With all the dislikes about Zeke, it is important to see his background, becuase without it he is just a bad guy, but AoT has "no plain bad guys" policy.

It’s crazy, I never thought i could feel bad for Zeke. He honestly had a terrible childhood. I don’t blame him for turning out the way he did. Grisha is my favorite character and even I can see that he failed him as a father. Had me shedding a tear or two for kid Zeke. AOT is a masterpiece!!

The clever and wonderful thing about AOT is that the Eldians are born with the power of giants. If it is armies and nuclear weapons, the ideal of giving them up and creating peace is theoretically possible, though a very small possibility. However, it is impossible to separate the power of the Titans from the Eldians, and the possibility of destroying the world by "Rambling" remains. Even if the Eldians want peace, as long as this possibility remains, complete reconciliation is impossible. ISAYAMA is a genius for coming up with this setup.

This whole season is the best one tbh. The big revelations are here, with a lot of moral questions and chaotic fights. Additionally, this season completely changes the general context initially formed of the characters during season 1 and 2 (season 1 after the finale is more amazing and more depressing now lol).

Zeke's biggest fan is here and ready to defend her boy. I really think Zeke's plan is the softest way to end this conflict. Let me remind you that the Eldians were cruel conquerors (and these are not just Marley’s tales) before they closed themselves within the walls. And no one knows what the same residents of Paradise would have been like if their memory had not been erased and they had not been intimidated by the titans. Take the same Flock and his followers. The Eldians are not only sinful people, but also bearers of titans. Personally, I would not be able to live in peace if I knew that some person or even several passers-by would suddenly turn into large monsters and start eating everyone around. Who guarantees that this won't happen? Even if they agree on something, who guarantees that the attack of the titans will not happen in 13 years? Or at least in 100? Who knows what the next progenitor will be like, what if someone wants to be ambitious? And they hold weapons of mass destruction in their hands. Not only the Marleyans, but the whole world will never be able to live in peace as long as there are Eldians, and the Eldians will never be able to feel like the same people, like everyone else around them. Yes, the Eldians are not to blame for being like this, but the rest of the world is not to blame either. Sorry for my point of view, but in their world it will be better if the Eldians disappear from the world

And Zeke came up with the mildest option. Because the naive proposals to “agree” are out of the question, there is a question: the whole world or the Eldians? Which is more humane: - kill everyone except the Eldians; - kill all Eldians - force the Eldians to give up procreation, but so that they have in reserve the protection of the Rumbling? The third option seems softer, doesn't it? Not having children, of course, is a shame, but it’s better than the whole world under the feet of titans. No one exterminates anyone, conquers anyone, or keeps anyone in slavery; Eldians simply stop being born. You said that this will not stop the war, but there is a demonstration of Rumbling. If Marley or anyone else attacks the Eldians in these 100 years, while they are not yet extinct, the Eldians will send some of the colossal titans out of the walls and discourage everyone from attacking themselves. The Eldians are definitely protected. And the whole world should not be afraid of those who are simply living out their years. And when all the Eldians are gone, the titan's power will have nowhere to go, and it will disappear along with the last Eldian. The Eldians will die out peacefully, like many peoples in history. And the whole world will breathe easy. And who will fight after all this is another matter, this does not concern Zeke, he saved the world from his people and saved his people from humiliation and suffering, as well as from being used for military purposes. When I first watched it, I thought, “What an idiotic idea, Zeke, you’re crazy.” But when I watched the anime for the second time, I began to love this character. One of the most complex and well-written characters in this title. He looks down on everything and has no attachment to any side, because it so happens that he has no truly close people, no those whose lives he worries about. And therefore he sees nothing terrible in death. Therefore, he calmly kills those who interfere with his path to his great goal of saving the world. As we see, he is not afraid of his own death. He's just such a deep deadinside (Reiner, move over). I say this to say that he killed on the way to this plan. Everyone kills there.....

I could be wrong, but I don't think most AOT fans think that S4 is "worse", per se, than any preceding season; it's just, you know, harder to watch -- your word to describe S4 is exactly the one I use, which is "PAIN". (Although I definitely do see occasional comments that S4 "sucks" 🙄)

One thing to note; I like you said that 'history is written by the winners'. The Marleyan books said the Titan Ymir was used to murder, conquer and tyrannize other countries. However, the books by the Eldian resurgists says that the Titan Ymir was used to build roads, plow fields, make infrastructure. So which is true? We find out later; both are. Ymir was used to do many terrible things, and used to do many good things as well. But people writing books will always have a biased point of view.

@@Darkfoot21 Really? Because I have too, and my observations are quite contrary from yours. The brother, who already has watched the series beforehand, has trouble keeping a poker face on whenever something is about to happen, does not have a good idea of the disposition between Marley, Eldia and Paradis, and likewise have inaccurate points about the titan history. The sister, on the other hand, is a new viewer, but like many other reactors she is tantamount to being swayed by the narration of the story; during the Paradis invasion of Liberio she was very much on the Paradis' side, but during the Jaegarist coup, she started hating the Jaegarist faction despite their motivations being the most pro-Paradis of all. This is of course in large due to main character attachment rather than rational evaluation- with the exception of Eren, whose character shifts past the timeskip, leading to his radical change.

29:24 Yes, I think the brother nails it here. The whole idea (sterilization of an entire race -- "euthanization" is just a euphemism) is repugnant, but what's particularly repugnant is that Zeke is forcing his "solution" upon the entire race. He's not giving them a choice, and I think the choice to have children is a human right. So I think even putting it to a vote amongst the Eldian population would be wrong, because there will inevitably be some who disagree and I don't think the majority should be able to impose sterilization upon the minority. And Zeke KNOWS there would be a large contingent (if not the majority) who would disagree, which is why he's trying to impose it upon them through subterfuge rather than discussing it openly.

Exactly! And you can maybe try to argue that objectively life is worth the suffering for most, and in this specific case, the titans are not a guarantee of life, so to cut the lifeline based on the potential is immoral

Terrible solution. Zeke thinks he knows best and doesn't care what people might think. I think Levi said it best. I don't remember his exact words but something about how he's so dismissive and so nonchalant about people's lives. You see it when he rips his subordinates in half to throw flesh and bone at Levi in the forest, you see it when he sends them off the edge of the plane and screams to basically end their lives as human beings to use them as temporary titan weapons they'll dispatch later, without a care in the world. Then there's the wine scene. Or of course season 3 episode 17 when he literally plays a game out of eradicating, in his mind at the time an entire people. Like bugs. No remorse. It's infuriating. Levi is the perfect foil to him because he fights to preserve life. He knows what it means to lose people but its always a tragedy to him, not an a nuisance. Hard to put a finger on it.

everything s fair in love n war. learn that. erwin used 100s of scouts to capture the female titan. Zeke used his titan in a tactical way as a failsafe to get one over Levi. sacrifices are made in battles of war. zeke's plan was the most humane n peaceful solution to end the 'titan' problem. if he hadn't had mercy on human life, he wud have just opted to wipe eldians out... instead he formed a way for them to live out their natural lives, even with a measure for security. zeke thinks he knows best...oh yes he does... even tho it doesn't take people's. levi, armin, hange, no one cud come close to a decent enuf resolution... zeke had one, only bcoz of how unique he was, he acted on it for the grreater good...nothing wrong with that... there's always sacrifices on every path. s3 e17... in a battle against an enemy nation in a war...yea, i'd be kinda that way too lowkey, especially when the other side is brainwashed and ignorant... just like how one wud be furious at some online online with a shitty, misunderstood, shallow opinion :P
