For me one of the best things on fighting games is when you find someone random on online, and then you and the other person start memeing and do some random stuff for no reason, just because its fun.

You have the Sportsmanlike side of the FGC then you have the "Low-Tier" toxic side.

The camera quality, staging, and theatrics of some of the promos these players cut are super-reminiscent of pro wrestling, no wonder Nagzz jives with the action.

I don't know why but I always love it when Koe and Nagzz do a collab. :> Wish Koe, Nagzz and Nothingbutafan could do another NagzzDiscovers together, their energies just bounce off really well imo.

I love these stories. I'm probably one generation above the modern fighting gamers, so I was literally there at the 'birthing' stages of fighting games competition. It was before there was an "internet." The scene would be in local arcades. Hyper competitive, compulsive players, clash of egos, the smack talking, tempers flaring up ... so much nostalgia... ahhhhh

Oh man, the measuring tape. I don't play much fighting games, but I play rhythm games at a reasonably high level, and I swear I would be that guy if I had to play on anything that isn't my setup at home. Monitor distance is important as hell for me.

Fantastic concept for a video. I know "collabs" double the work for half the pay but still... Budget your time for more Naggz Discovers, and ask him to come back for this series. Me losing to older people back in the arcades was what made me fall in love with fighting games and i used to practice for hours so i could get better than them.

Tokido has publicly stated he was messing around. He wasn't seriously measuring the fkin distance between the screen and himself Koe.

The name trick is actually using legitimate psychology, connecting new information with old information by forming relationships between two memories. According to phenom, one of the major reasons for the tape measure is to make stun bar hitconfirming easier. For difficult single hit confirms, good players will often use the stun bar to visually confirm whether an attack landed or not rather than looking at the characters themselves because its a little easier to react to a bar instantly getting bigger than it is to a hit spark vs. a block spark. So one of the advantages of making sure he is at the right distance from the screen is optimizing peripheral view of the stun bar. Too close and your eyes have to dart from the space in front of your opponent to the stun bar. Too far and its hard to make out the stun bar. Seems like a small thing, but if you are doing really difficult 14-15f confirms in a tight tournament situation, it definitely makes sense.

In defense of Chillin: The Leffen-Chillin thing was more about Leffen commenting on Curse's signing of Chillin based off his prominence on the Smash Documentary. But Chillin didn't disappear, as Koe mentioned. He stayed signed by Curse and retained by Liquid after the merger. He kept playing well after the 5-0, attending nearly every major event in North America and the occasional Dreamhack and Heir events in Europe, and continues to compete today but has more obligations as a commentator nowadays. It's not like he's a slouch. He still often makes Top 32/64 appearances.

If your coming from smash I think you would enjoy Granblue Fantasy Versus. The systems perfectly show you how to do combos and it's rpg system is really unique.

Val Venus’ character was supposed to be a pron John, that’s why he was doing all that.

In my mind: MOBA players: the toxic behavior is regrettable and needs to be mediated FG players: the toxic behavior was lame and unskilled and needs to be honed. the cringe from lame trash talk needs to mediated. I grew up with brothers, trash talk is like a natural component of my world. If it's good; everyone enjoys it . if it's not; its cringe tier and terrible. Embrace it. It's not going away.

I have the same problem with remembering names as nagzz, and I remember them the same way as him

And to this day, LTG streams and ragequits every fighting game with nonsensical excuses while staring at his Grindr account.
