Showcase 2019: A Moment on the Edge | Mark Henick
www.speakers.ca/speakers/mark...
With over five million views, Mark Henick’s TEDx talk, “Why We Choose Suicide,” is among the most watched in the world. His story of searching for “the man in the light brown jacket” who saved his life from a teenage suicide attempt captured global attention, and when he learned of products being sold on Amazon that promoted suicide, his successful online petition to have them removed garnered tens of thousands of signatures. Mark has dedicated his life from an early age to opening minds and creating change. His talks are informed by his direct experience with stigma and the mental health care system, and he brings his diverse and unique perspective to every audience as someone who has been a patient, a professional, a policy influencer, and a public figure in the mental health system.

Same! I’ve been watching that Ted talk literally every day before I fall asleep for the past 6 years and this video adds on to it perfectly.

@@SavannahSteel EXPLAIN MY DUDE
Just finished reading his recently released book "So Called Normal" never in my life have I experienced such a strong validation of my feelings and emotions. I thank God for allowing me to find out about this man.
I can relate a lot to what your talking about, I've had a tough battle with depression too, thanks for speaking about this. Not a lot of people have the courage to talk about this openly despite struggling so much, I'm definitely one of those people so thank you for doing what you do, your videos have given me hope.
Unemployment and depression...such a big issue that’s hardly ever talked about. The 2 just go hand in hand. They feed off of each other.....then you find a new job FINALLY, became unstable to hold the job, quits or gets fired, anddd we’re back again at unemployment. Aka homebound until you find more work. Sucks.

I totally feel you!! The demands of my teaching job were so intense that it triggered many of my symptoms, not to mention physical ones. Then I tried working in the health care industry, another set back due to the many demands. I have learned not to fulfill other's expectations (Spouse, family, friends) but my own. Find that thing you are passionate about, where you feel peace and quiet inside, where you excell at, where you feel genuine happiness. In my case, I stopped teaching and became an interpreter. May God guide your path, give you direction and wisdom.
amazing you are changing many peoples lives
Ugly? On the contrary. Inside and out, he became a beautiful person. I hope he has a brown coat. That he can be a Mike for some other Mark.
