Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz were the "same thing" but as the years got up to the 2000's+ it was all ransacked by ghetto families and bad ass kids I mean there's probably not one location where there hasn't been a dining room brawl or even a legit shooting in ANY STATE they have them in. I just loved some skee ball and stand up arcade machines when I was a little kid going there. Nobody ever fucked with anybody and even the pizza was good, the grown ups liked it. They could chill and turn us loose to run around and we acted right and had manners. Feeding a couple dollars into the machine to get showbiz tokens to play the arcades and games made my day every time.

Wanda L G Nielsen it...was...AWESOME 😀 I'm sorry for being a jerk...but you REALLY missed out on some amazing things. Of course some stuff wasn't great. Typewriters. Encyclopedias. Most people didn't have answering machines. Standing in line forever with your mom at the grocery store or bank just to cash a check. Stereos constantly eating your cassette tapes. Almost nobody had cable. Having to find a (working) pay phone to call home. The video store NEVER having the movie or video game you wanted to rent available on weekend nights. No way of reviewing ANYTHING before you bought a product or went to a place...it was total hit or miss. No GPS. Most theaters actually enforced the "no admission without a parent" rule...that's why me and my friends didn't get to see Coming To America or Lost Boys 😡 theaters had way more employees back then, and they'd check your ticket stub before letting you into the actual theater part. By the mid 80s, arcades were on the decline...so they were expensive. They were also dirty, full of choking cigarette smoke, crowded, and smelled like sweaty fat guys who lived and died by their Galaga high scores. Usually the best games were either broken from overuse, or there was a long line to play them, so you'd be hurried through your game and shoved and told to hurry up by people behind you (Dragon's Lair and Street Fighter were especially bad for that)...or they'd be viciously guarded by 20-something regulars who literally wouldn't let you play them...no kidding. The 80s definitely had fun things too. It was a time of a little more innocence (ignorance?). People did way more outdoors things regularly. Life was a little slower, a bit simpler. People talked to each other more. There were far fewer distractions. Hanging out with your friends on Friday or Saturday night, making popcorn in your dad's air popper or Jiffy Pop on the stovetop, watching Twilight Zone reruns or Tales From the Darkside on TV, or renting Friday the 13th or Sleepaway Camp or Nightmare on Elm Street, or playing Atari or Nintendo or Genesis and drinking Jolt all night and having the time of your life... Ughhh...god damn it...now I'm all nostalgic....ok, I admit it....I WISH I COULD GO BACK. I'D GIVE ANYTHING JUST TO GO BACK FOR ONE WEEK!! Why did the 80s have to end??!! 😭

You know these commercials actually make me think of what Freddy Fazbear's Pizza would have been like if it existed in the 80s and I actually realize that Freddy Fazbear's pizza and ShowBiz Pizza have a lot in common they're both Arcade Pizza restaurants and they both have bears as their mascots the only difference is that one of them has a much darker history

Yes, that occurred thanks to "Concept Unification," which saw the replacement of the old "Rock-afire Explosion" band with "Munch's Make-Believe Band" (they kept the existing RAE animatronics but replaced their outer skins with the Chuck E. Cheese's-related characters instead).

Seeing commercials like this really make me miss the way Chuck E. Cheese's used to be, especially the animatronics that used to perform for everyone. Sad that they had to be taken out. Without them, it's just a regular pizza place with games. It's just not the same. I know that has nothing to do with Showbiz Pizza, but still.

Chuck E Cheese got the animatronics from Show Biz. Once Show biz took over the Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Time company, Show Biz brought the animatronics to that company and later changed the now merged company's name to simply Chuck E. Cheese that you're familiar with now.

it was the greatest place in the 80s to me. Had the best arcade games, had awesome pizza, loved the rockafire explosion, even the toy prizes were great. I got a G1 Bumblebee for 300 tickets as a kid.

this made me cry. i wish I was an 80's-90's kid. So I could experience the fun. the delicious pizza, the animatronics, the skytubes, the ballpit, the arcade games, the rides... ect.

​@@da9558it's not the same though. In the 80s, animatronics like these were at their prime and it was definitely a lot funner judging by how 80s kids explain it. And animatronic pizzerias are getting less popular, losing their spark and such. My dream is to see Rolf, but that probably won't happen sadly because it's 2023, but I'm not losing hope. Anyways, the point is that going to these shows is harder because of how it's considered "out of style" or too scary (I blame FNAF for making gen z so afraid of animatronics) and it doesn't have nearly so much fun probably

I'm too young to understand how much this means to some people. I'm still a kid. However, I do have a small spot in my heart for this place. There's actually a Showbiz Pizza Place about an hour away from where I live. On some special occasions, my dad brings me and my brother there. It's pretty fun but feels off. The animatronics seem broken yet still functioning. The wolf guy doesn't have pupils. You can also just tell they're old..very old. The place gives off a strange vibe yet it's still fun. I don't see a lot of people going into it but sometimes I do see a couple of adults with their kids inside. It feels strange knowing it was once a place where kids could go and just have fun like Chuck E Cheeses. I don't remember what kind of prizes they have..it's been a while since I've been. Sorry for making this so long! Just wanted to share

My family and I lived within walking distance from Showbiz Pizza! While my mom was at work, my dad and I would walk to Showbiz and have fun!! Great memories!!

Awww in some of the commercials the kids were actually getting bullied by others and their teachers. They were saying that Showbiz could be a fun escape.

I was born in 96' so I got to see early 2000's Chuck E Cheese right before it went to shit

I was born in 81 and can confirm this is where you went for your friends birthday party, when your cousin was visiting or when your mom went out with friends and dad had no idea what to do for dinner. It was loud, the pizza was meh but you could pretty much do whatever you like on the game floor. I loved the helicopter 😀

Haven't seen/heard these since they aired but could still sing "showbiz pizza, where a kid can be a kid!" before watching. When you're a kid you think ads are very important and will be relevant forever

I remember the showbiz down the street giving free game tokens for A’s and B’s every time report cards came in. Showbiz has a place in my heart that Chuck E Cheese will never have.

I heard there is a bar somewhere that has a working rock a fire band… I would love it if there was one in every major city! God knows I would go!

That, "Where a kid can be a kid" thing causes me to hear the showbiz commercials in my head when I see the Chuck E Cheese commercials.

I took my son to a ShowBiz pizza place in Lansing Michigan back 1995 for his birthday party. Was a fun time good food

I like the commercial with the You can giggle, you can wiggle, you can flip your lid. That was my favorite because I had that one stuck in my head all day! I decided to create my own version of that commercial. I told a fake audience that my teacher, Ms. Martha, yelled at me, Mom forgot to pack me Babybel cheese and chocolate milk, and my friend, Sam, never got in touch with my emails. Then I let this song play. You know, the one that says You can giggle, you can wiggle, you can flip your lid. Yeah, that one. My favorite characters are Dook LaRue, Billy Bob, Mitzi Mozzarella, and Rolfe and Earl because ... 1. Dook is a dog and I love dogs (they are super affectionate and sweet and cute) and also he was the drummer of The Rock-afire Explosion and I used to play drums back in middle school. 2. Billy Bob is from Tennessee and that's where all the country music singers like my faves, Brett Young and Kelsea Ballerini are from, plus he's a kidder. He loves kidding around with you. Just like how Chuck E. Cheese is my favorite at Chuck E Cheese because he's the mascot of his own chain, Billy Bob is also my favorite because he's the mascot of Showbiz Pizza Place. 3. Mitzi Mozzarella is the youngest member of The Rock-afire Explosion and has a big crush on Michael Jackson and I can relate to her because I love Michael Jackson. I love his song, "You Are Not Alone" because it's my favorite song in the world besides Plain White T's, "Hey There, Delilah." (which Billy Bob sang on an old KZread video Rock-afire Explosion fan Chris Thrash posted during the year 2008). Plus I'm obsessed with people who are the youngest in their family like this Broadway celebrity I'm getting a private lesson with soon, Erika Henningsen. She's the youngest out of three. She has two older sisters. 4. I love Rolfe and Earl 'cause I admit, Rolfe is a jackass and he's, according to Chris Thrash from the 2008 documentary, The Rock-afire Explosion, "A Nobody wanting to be Somebody." It is fricking funny and Rolfe is nothing but mean to the band. He's such a fucking asshole! Earl, Rolfe's ventriloquist puppet, is always trying to make Rolfe stop, but he can't do anything about it because Rolfe is a fucking stupid bitch! Man, I wish I were born in the 80's so I can go to this place! I would just be a good little girl so I can get to go to this place, play some damn skee ball, and watch the animatronic puppets tear it up onstage.

I wish Chuck E. Cheese could go back to the 80s version and I also wish showbiz pizza was back 😢

That third commercial with the little boy tryna play basketball with everyone really takes me back

Ours was "Chuck E Cheese's" not "Show Biz," Both the same Company but two different themes. I was 7 years old in 1987 and Chuck E. Cheese was FUN as all heck. It was EXCITING when you found out that your Dad was taking you there for Dinner because you did good on your report card!

Showbiz was cool...and still is!!

I wish I was alive when this was still open it seemed so fun I was only able to go to Chuck E. Cheese once when I was like 4 so ten years ago and the commercials for these are so nostalgic to me it’s really sad to me that some people will never get to experience these type of restaurants

It's quite eerie to see old photos of these places online. Especially knowing that a lot of the animatronics were sitting in storage for over 30 years and some still are... Just waiting... Not even functional... The history that follows them is the haunting part. How does a robot built to entertain children become creepy when it goes out of use? Who knows. They're just a piece of the past forgotten by time... I'm rambling now. Sorry. I'm sitting in bed writing this and all these things just start popping into my head... Have a nice day.

I was looking through my piggy bank and ive always had this showbiz pizza place coin in there, no idea how i got it but got curious and found out some showbiz coins are worth up to $40, although my coin is the most common one and is only worth $2-$3. Still pretty neat.

@@deadmagikarp Probably because of seeing something Familiar or that feels familiar completely destroyed or unmaintained. Its like seeing a person before doing drugs and then seeing them 10 years after they started doing them.

Showbiz Pizza is LITERALLY nightmare fuel. When I was 7 years old I had my birthday there. Everything started off great! We played ski ball, whack a mole and the game where you threw the balls at gremlin like creatures. We played in totally unsanitary the ball pit (which is the real horror now that I think about it) . There was a game where you had to roll a bowling ball on a track over a hump, but you tried not to roll it too far. The best part of the night was when me and my friends played Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles II the Arcade game with some older boys and we got WAY farther than we ever did before. Up to this point this was the best birthday party ever. Then came the time to go into the show room for dinner. We ordered a pizza and were in the front row. Then suddenly a bunch of really scary monsters started making loud sounds and tried to kill us (at least thats how I remember it in my 7 year old mind). We ended up eating the pizza by the shoe cubbys near the ball pit.

1982, I once hit a guy in head that was sitting dining area with a wooden skee ball when I was 3. Apparently I just perfectly launched it over that 1 foot gap between the brick wall and the ceiling that separated the gaming area. Bounced right off his cue ball.

My experience with Showbiz Pizza as a kid I could do without...😲

Always wanted to go as a kid. Brings me back to the 80s.

I took my kids to Chuckie Cheese's today and to my horror saw that there's no more animatronics, just some TVs on the ceiling. Dang, I miss the gooldnold Showbiz Pizzs days.

SO GLAD I WAS AN 80's KID! NEVER BEEN TO SHOWBIZ PIZZARIA, BUT I'VE BEEN TO CHUCK E. CHEESE SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I WAS YOUNGER😊😃😁

@@dedenneleader_official3305 Oh cool. I highly recommend you to check out old school CEC and Rock afire Explosion shows that are on KZread, especially if you're into animatronics. They're really great animatronic shows in my opinion, that's how I got into animatronics.
