Make sure to clean and inspect every part of the shock during tear down.
Suspension parts get beat up quickly, so anything that looks worn or broken needs to be replaced.
Once you have rebuilt your shock you will need to get the reservoir bladder filled with 150 to 200 PSI of nitrogen, depending on how soft you want your shock tuned.

Hi FixYourDirtBike, This video instruction you prepared helped me a lot. I especially liked the very distinct narrative and short presentation. I'm on my way now to the local independent motorcycle shop to have them charge the shock with nitrogen. Best to you.

It sounds like something got messed up in the valve head. Did you keep it together when you removed it?

DO NOT FILL YOUR SHOCK WITH AIR!!!!! Air expands when heated, and it will blow a hole in your shock reservoir if it gets hot enough!!

You forgot to bleed the air from the system through the Compression adjuster.

It's not always necessary to bleed through the compression adjuster. If you're just changing the oil and checking the seals you don't need to remove it, bleeding through the piston work just as well.

@@Fixyourdirtbike except for the air pocket under the seal head. Tomato, tomato. I've done it both ways but always felt via comp adjuster yielded better results (greater success rate)

Filling from the compression adjuster is definitely the better way. Granted, I definitely could have shown the overflow on the head seating. I'll keep that in mind for the next one. Good looking out!
