Absolute legends. All modern Japanese (and many western) rock/metal bands owe a lot to SHOW-YA as much as other legends like X-Japan and Loudness. They started in 1981 and have been rocking ever since, with a brief hiatus between 1998-2004. They are now currently celebrating their 35th anniversary with several online-live concerts.

This is one of the first popular all female Japanese rock groups, they carried the flag for Japanese Women in Rock/Metal for many years. Bands like Band-Maid, LoveBites, Aldious and Even Babymetal owe a lot to these queens of hard rock. Been a fan of these ladies for many years. :)

They were founded in 1981, before Metallica. It breaks my heart that almost no one in the U.S. knows they exist. All these years that rock has been dying a miserable death in the West, these girls were tearing it up--touring almost continuously now for 39 years. As another commenter said, they kept the flame alive, and in fact they nurtured and mentored the entire next generation of female rockers in Japan. One of my favorite groups of all time, and if I'd known about them in the 80's and 90's I would have flown to Japan to see them.

@ILIVEPLAYSTATION No i don't remember that one in english, i only have the english songs they put out on their studio albums/collections like the cover of the beetles blackbird (not a beatles fan and they made it sound fantastic) the doors cover "touch me" off of the first album and "we will still be hanging on" from the glamour album. i've seen video of them do other english songs live like deep purples "burn" online. sadly unless you have the albums you miss out on many great songs. i love the slow guitar solo in "be quite" off of the imigration album but you cannot find it anywhere online.

@ILIVEPLAYSTATION i have the hard way tour live on laser disc....i made many copies for people in the 90s, who knows how many it touched. i never really thought about how many english songs they have done other than the ones i listed. it isn't like seikima II or the brilliant green who did entire or nearly entire albums in english.

I was fortunate to see SHOW-YA perform live at the legendary Roxy on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood back in 1989, before the album this song is from, OUTERLIMITS, had been released, and they played this tune as well as Genkai Lovers and some others from the album. They were incredible and really brought the house down that night! I later got a cassette copy of the Outerlimits album and played it pretty much to death over the next several years. Watashi wa Arashi (I Am The Storm) is one of their signature tunes, along with Genkai Lovers and a few others. The lead singer, Keiko Terada, left the band in 1992 and made a few solo albums, while the rest of them got a couple new singers over the next few years, before breaking up in 1998. However, in 2005, the band regrouped, with Keiko Terada again, and these ladies are now almost in their 60s and they just dropped another album in 2021! They still kick ass!

“I Am a Stormy Woman”_WATASHI WA ARASHI_(1987)SHOW-YA Lyrics: Yoshihiko Ando, Music: Keiko Terada (English translation of rough lyrics meaning) As if I was swept away by the wind That blew like an endless stream I chased the lightning that shone so brightly The stormy sky we both saw that day Nothing has changed. Now it's a dead age where dreams can't be born That's just a man's line What changed your mind that you were so strong? I hope you'll never betray yourself I'm a strong woman like a storm I'll blow away the false peace I'm burning like a flame Once more I'll set our world ablaze Blowin'you Women wear glass masks We can hide our true faces from the world And yet, somewhere inside, A man always has a rusty dream that he can't get rid of For the sake of love, even if it hurts I fear nothing now I want to go back to that night in the middle of a distant storm The lightning that ran through us both I am the woman of miracles I open this night that has been closed up And let it go I give birth to the future We can feel each other forever You can get! The lightning that calls tomorrow Woo Woo Now it's ripping through the sky I'm a strong woman like a storm I'll blow away the false peace I'm burning like a flame I want to burn once more The fire of our life Blowin'you /SHOW-YA is a Japanese hard rock heavy metal band with five female members. The band is a pioneer of Japanese girl metal bands composed entirely of women in the 1980s. The predecessor of the band was the band "Medusa" with vocalist Keiko Terada and keyboardist Miki Nakamura, which later changed its name to "SHOW-YA". In 1982, the band won the grand prize in the ladies' division of a band contest sponsored by YAMAHA. In 1985, they made their major label debut with Toshiba EMI Japan. Two songs from their seventh album "Outerlimits" released in 1987, their 8th single "Marginal Lovers" and 9th single "I Am a Stormy Woman" became consecutive hits, and the album sold over 600,000 copies, making them the most popular girls metal band in Japan at that time. The band went through member changes, breakups, and reunions, and is one of those rare bands where the original members are still active with a career spanning over 35 years. /Show-ya are... Keiko Terada - vocals, Miki Nakamura - keyboards, chorus, Miki mittan Tsunoda - drums, chorus, Satomi Senba - bass, chorus, Miki sun-go (third) Igarashi - Guitar, Chorus,
