The band is a pioneer of Japanese girls metal bands composed entirely of women in the 1980s. The predecessor of the band was the band "Medusa" with vocalist Keiko Terada and keyboardist Miki Nakamura, which later changed its name to "SHOW-YA". In 1982, the band won the grand prize in the ladies' division of a band contest sponsored by YAMAHA. In 1985, they made their major label debut with Toshiba EMI Japan. Two songs from their seventh album "Outerlimits" released in 1989, their 8th single "Marginal Lovers" and 9th single " I Am a Stormy Woman " became consecutive hits, and the album sold over 600,000 copies, making them the most popular girl metal band in Japan at that time. Sun go their guitarist always produces a full sound. She makes it like there’s two guitars up there. It’s no wonder Sun go and Saki from Nemophila are so close. 2 great guitarists.

Facts. Grabbed a screenshot of SUN-GO right by SAKI just beeming with pride during a shred solo at that SHOW-YA x NEMOPHILA 2-man Zeiko stream. What a moment that was.

I love the sound of Sun-Go playing lead guitar! She has that 80s scream with all the perfectly played harmonics :)

This along with 'Fairy' and 'Genkai Lovers' make up their kind of trademark three songs. I don't think you ever checked out Nemophila's cover of this. They did a great job, and they had Miki "Mittan" Tsunoda filling in on drums while Tamu was on maternity leave.

Show-Ya are awesome. Nemophila did a cover of Fairy with them on stage live :) It's on the "Seize the fate" special editioj (CD with BR).

That video of 'Fairy' is just amazing. The bit where Keiko-san sings straight at Mayu's baby bump is hilarious. I love that clip so much.

They were probably one of the first generation of Japanese all-girl rock/metal bands. Even though instrumentation wasn't as technical back then as some girl bands these days, they were solid and very respected as musicians. There was another all girl band called Princess Princess back then whose music style was more leaning towards pop-rock and pop-punk. Scandal was probably influenced by the band a lot, then after scandal gained popularity outside Japan as well, many bands tried to become the next Scandal, which included Band-Maid circa 2013-2014. You can check out one of their biggest hits called "diamonds". You can easily imagine Miku singing this song.

SHOW-YA members are around 60. BAND MAID and LOVEBITES are around 30, Fami is 21.

Love this band so much I have all their vinyls and later CDs. There's gems on every record.

The raining thing is common in Japan and they never seem affected in the least by it. I've always afraid of them getting shocked. Dedication to the craft. These ladies will be rockin' until they die!
