Perfect video. My video thumbnails suddenly stopped showing up without me changing anything. I installed the Codec Tweak Tool and enabled all of the thumbnails and immediately thumbnails returned.

it doesn't work with all video files on vlc. For example MOV or MP4 in 4k with 10bit of colors.

Nope. The VLC cone icon remains on new downloads since I switched to it instead of Windows Media Player. At least the old media player downloads still have a thumbnail.

Predictably this failed, and I lost all my picture thumbs as well as video now!

GOOD

Does not work in Windows 7 unfortunately. EDIT. Only the mp4 files keep their VLC mark. EDIT 2. Adding the K-Lite Codec Pack Mega did the trick for me. It uses the Codec Tweak tool for me. Thanks a lot of bringing me at least half way.
