Oh dear it’s all coming back! In ‘79 I worked in Visionhire as a 17 year old YTS remember them? We had 3 or 4 old Decca model 302 valve sets even then! I remember working on them well and that’s a long long time ago! Great Clip thanks for the memory’s

we were renting off Visionhire in the late 70's, probably slightly newer than the Decca, Philips 210 (all buttons set to 625), later replaced by the single standard 300. A few of my school friends had the same so I expect they must have had a good stock of them still in use, at the time the B+W licence was a good deal cheaper

I remember moving into a house in Bedlington when I was about 10 and that had one of those Rediffusion cable switches on the wall in the dining room. There was a cable coming in through the window but there didn't seem to be anywhere on the box to connect it to anything. This was 1983 so I'm guessing this Rediffusion system was no longer in use by then, just something left behind by the previous owner.

We had a Bush TV161 when I was a wee lad, recognized the strange shaped back & the chassis view confirms it! I would try a CRT tester to give it a blast, running the heater at 9v will certainly shorten the useful remaining life.

In my experience giving it a blast on a rejuvenator is more likely to shorten it's life than over-running the heaters.

@@MegaWayneD I agree some testers are quite brutal, but having used my B&K on clean & balance setting, I restored my Thorn 1400 with great success, still has a decent picture 4 years later 😁

@@MegaWayneD I believe in giving the CRT a gentle run a slow warm up let it run for a good week on and off for a few hours they does wake the picture tube up gently
