Welcome to my channel, I am Jeff, and this is my channel where I discuss my music loves. I have a fairly wide music genre pallet, I do mainly spend much of the time in the rock, hard rock, and melodic metal realms. You will still find me delving occasionally in classic rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, and contemporary jazz. While most of my material here deals with vinyl records, I do have a large compact disc collection, and I even show a bit of my real band stuff from my life as a cover band drummer. The focus is on the music and the artists. Please be kind and keep it cordial in the comments section. Remember, music is very subjective, and we all have differing opinions - accept those differences.

I wish I could remember the set we had that I mentioned. I know it was a box set with like 3 or 4 records in it, but cannot recollect anything about what was on the cover.

Kiss Alive 2 is what hooked me into music at age 6. It was 1986 and I saw it in my Mom’s vinyl collection, saw the inside of the gatefold and I said “Mom, we need to listen to this!” Detroit Rock City came on and I was ruined from that day on 😂. My first purchase though was a year later I saved for months to buy Crazy Nights on cassette in 1987.

Hi Jeff!!! it seems half of the VC have some kind of connection with Kiss "Alive", lol...... when i turned 12/13 i was still listening to what was played on the radio, mostly latin stuff or 40 top billboard songs, just around 82/83 i really discover the "new music" i still like and enjoy, thanks to my young brother coming home from school with a dubbed cassette with Maiden's "The Number...." and the rest is history..... cheers and be well

It is odd how a single band influenced so many like that. I guess for those a little older than me, the Beatles on Ed Sullivan did the same.

It is weird some of the little things remembered from childhood, like the few albums I recall my older brother had. I think the Queen stayed with me because of the cool robot artwork. ha ha

Great video! Sounds like we were 12-13 around the same time. I didn't pick up Kiss Alive until high school. I actually got Kiss Alive II first and had that in Jr. High School. I also had a lot of singles back then! I listened to a lot of Kiss back then but some disco stuff and other groups like Queen and Steve Miller.

I've always been pretty diverse, and disco type stuff kept in my collection into the 80s, even as harder rock began dominating. Maybe that is why I did not have any adverse reaction to the Kiss Dynasty album :) Some of my favorite singles in the early 80s (still engrained in my psyche) were Knock on Wood (Amii Stewart) and Pop Muzik (M)

I was 13 and 14 in 1985 when I became fully aware of the wonderful world of Christian Rock, Hard Rock and Metal with bands like Daniel Band, Jerusalem, Petra, Rez and Stryper. In late 1984 to late 1985 I went from Adult Contemporary and Pop like Chris Christian and Farrell and Farrell to the bands just mentioned. I liked some moderate rock like Whiteheart (still like them), D&K and Mylon but I usually preferred the heavier side of Rock.

85 was a great year for early Christian metal for sure, and it just blew up from there of course. In 85, my roommate in the Air Force was all into CCM stuff, while I was into the heavy stuff, so I got exposed to a lot of it. We saw many concerts together, including Mylon, Amy Grant, David & the Giants, Steve Camp, and stuff like that.

Oh, I agree with you - disco over rap any day. Most of those other songs you mentioned, were all over the radio when I was young, and are still engrained in my mind to this day. In the car, my wife and I listen a lot to Yacht Rock station on SiriusXM, and they play all of that smooth 70's stuff.
