The phone has no motion tracking, the PS4 camera was a flop because of that.it wouldn't really work

Let’s all thank Nintendo for keeping weird controllers alive.

I tried playing JD with a phone for the first time a few weeks ago, I was having major trouble Mega Starring "Never Can Say Goodbye" on Switch with Joycons cause the scoring is brutal for that song and switched over to my phone to see if there was any difference, it felt almost the same but I just COULD NOT. I have a giant Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with a huge case so I just feared accidently throwing my phone (That thing can do some damage) so I felt like my dance performance was reduced from the fear and just how uncomfortable it was holding my phone, I couldn't image being super sweaty dancing with my phone, it would EASILY fly off - and I sweat FAST so not a good combination. As much I DISLIKE the Joycons, they are great for JD, not as good as having a camera to score but easily much much better and comfortable than using a phone, especially if you have a brick like mine.

I feel you. Before I got my Switch, I used to play JD with my phone on my old Xbox. And it, was literal pain. The phone would always be disconnecting from the game to the point where playing ONE song was a struggle. And second, my phone is large but delicate. One time I was doing Scream and Shout ext, when I did the ending part my phone flew out my hand and INTO the window (it was alright). Scoring is another issue too. I'm so glad I have my joycons now cuz they're smaller and they score great :)

I am also playing with my phone and it all depends on your wi-fi conection. At first it was a strrugle so i changed my position in my room which is near my wi-fi router and now everything works very good

I don't have an Xbox or ps or switch, so I play just dance with just dance now (app) , it's a bit stressing at points, but works fine if you don't have the game... (Plus got 5 stars on positions 1st try w/it so...)

I have no just dance 2022 songs on just dance now so I am planning to get every just dance game

I wanna point out that the scoring can also depend on how big and heavy the phone is cause if you use a heavy or big phone it could be uncomfortable but if you use a small one but less heavier one you get a better score.

That makes sense bc my friends large phone has terrible scoring, but my tiny 2016 phone has surprisingly great scoring

As a phone player I think the scoring is simpler like you said and I’m glad that I don’t have to drop on the floor when the coaches does💀I could just move one hand and it will be perfect. Only thing that is bad is when you are dancing your bound to swipe out of the app or turn it off and when that happens you get xs. To fix that just turn on guided access on iPhones. Once you mastered playing on the phone you will learn that some moves you have to do differently to get perfect.

The joycon or even the wii remotes you didnt exactly need to drop on the floor, the issue is that the phone is too permissive, on other control methods you have to be aware of how vigorously you are dancing

i know right ESPECIALLY on.. slow songs. It’s like it thinks you’re going so slow it forgets you’re there so you get an X, I hate that so much but I figured out how to get around that

I have a phonecase with flap, I never had issues closing the app by swiping out of it or anything. a case with flap is also better protected when dropping. (I personally never dropped it while dancing so far)

I don't have a console, I installed the Just Dance Now application on my phone and bought a 1-month vip membership and when I connect it to my computer or tablet, it works. Non-vip people have 2 rights per day and the songs are limited, but when they get a vip pass, everything is unlocked. My advice to those who do not have money Just Dance Now :) (Dina, could you please make a video with the Just Dance Now review?)

In short: It depends a lot on the internet connection between the console and between the phone

I'm a phone player (Android) with PS4. My tip is that you have to turn off the vibration for a better scoring; sometimes (with vibration) in repeated moves I get Perfect but when I get a star the score is less, the same argument goes to gold moves because i get the gold move but the following move is a good or a ok

Yes this!!! I play also PS4 and Switch because sometimes my mom likes to play games and I share with her my stuff and when playing with the phone instead of the joycons, it depends on the phone how much it vibrates! I had a Motorola and the vibration was horribly strong. Whenever I danced on the PS4 with phone it was near impossible due to vibration but then when I changed to Huawei and the phone I got it's vibration is less in comparison, it allowed me to get slightly better scores. Then one day I decided to turn off vibration and oh boy was it better. This is so obscure for some people and it actually makes sense. For playing JD vibration on/off makes a lot of difference

@@gwagner1380 I have a Samsung but I noticed the difference between JD2021 and JD2017 to JD2020 (I also have JD1 to JD2016 for Wii and I will buy JD2022 for PS4). For the first one it wasn't a problem to have the vibration on but with the other games the scores were lower so I decided to turn off the vibration and now the scores are better! Unfortunately I can't compare anymore phone with PS4 Camera because I don't have enough space between me and the camera. I remember that I used the Camera for JD2017 to JD2019 and the score weren't always correct because it didn't recorder well my movements

you should try taping all 3 different kinds of controllers (switch, iphone, android) and see if they're all the same

As a disabled just dance user who just bought this I'm kinda disappointed the team got rid of the motion controller because if you don't have great grip or you have a zflip phone like I do it just doesn't work that well.

I use mine to play on Xbox. It just sucks because your hand hurts from having to hold your phone for a while and it doesn't always accurately score my moves like a kinect camera would. It does the job I just wish there was an easier way.

Can you just dance without holding phone?

I can explain the difference between iPhones & Android phones as it adheres to just dance scores; Apple releases only a few models per year, meaning it’s way easier to optimize apps for every iPhone & iPad. Contrast that to android, which has about 10 million phones released to run it, there’s no way Ubisoft can optimize the app for that many phones.

its about the connection if you have really good connection and you are dancing good then you can get a good score so its all about connection and how you move your arm.

On the topic of PS5 and that "the only way to play JD on the PS5 is on the phone". This is not entirely true! If you buy the PS4 version of the game for your PS5, you can use the PS4 camera too. Yes, you will need an adapter for your camera, but those are not too hard (or expensive) to find from third party sellers. I found mine on AliExpress. Mine is working great! Hope this helped someone out there!

I have been thinking of buying JD 2023 but you only can play with your phone there so I'm watching this to see if it's worth it.

This is why I attached my old Wii Wrist Strap to my phone case. Granted I mainly play JDNow but still lol.

I use my phone to play JD because I play JDNOW with phone and laptop. I have always thought I would score better with a kinect but maybe not! Also floor moves are so tough with the phone...Also, the sweatier I get the more dangerous it gets with a phone. lol

on android its depending what type of hardaware is in it and also turn off vibrations for better scorring because sometimes it can detect it

The controller app doesn’t even work me. When I pair, it tells me to “put the controller down and use my phone.” Then it tells me to select things using my phone but my screen gets stuck and I can’t select or swipe anything. Am I the only one with this problem?

I think I 13k’ed Pop Stars and Boombayah on JD 2022 with my Phone cause it was hard to do it with Joy-cons. I still would recommend the joy cons since it has the straps to make it safe.

Yo siempre he jugado con el teléfono (Android) y en cierto punto si es una molestia cuando juegas y un buen ejemplo (y hasta Dyna dió)es con level up dónde el movimiento es constante (y si duele) y en algunas canciones es un tremendo dolor no calificar sin importar si tienes una buena conexión(no sé si alguien de los que juegan con teléfono le pasa pero a mí no puedo calificar bien circus ex y Bad romance) y otro punto negativo es que no te cuenta bien algunos gold moves (en especial los estaticos y algunos dónde das una vuelta)

i tried playing with the phone but i didn't like it because it was harder to hold the phone (because of it's size) and my fingers started hurting from that

I bought the PS5 version Just Dance 2022 for my PS5, and while the phone scoring works decently, it's so uncomfortable holding my phone, and my pinky feels like it's going to break after a few songs. So, I bought the PS4 version of Just Dance 2022 and a PS move controller, and hopefully that works well. It's really odd that even though the PS5 and PS4 versions of the game are the exact same, the PS5 version is basically a downgrade since it only lets you use your phone.

I've found that it's harder to score well on 2022 with your mobile, but I'm able to score well on the older games if I'm using it. When I upgrade my xbox I'm not looking forward to losing my kinect :(

Android can go from BEST SCORES to WORST SCORES. It's dependent on the phone's model and it sucks. Also, remember LAN cable consoles will give you a probably more stable internet connection.

Yes but wired will not affect Just Dance games as much as other titles. Even if you use the console wired it will still be limited by the wireless transmission of your phone. The joycons have an stable connection because they are tailored to a gaming device, a phone "pings" on the wifi less times to save battery

I only play with my phone (Android) on PS4 because I don't have a ps camera and it actually not that bad, if you gen used to it. I am able to get 13000 on most of the songs and it's quite enjoyable, but I must admit, that sometimes it can give you random X or OK

I always use my Google smartphone for Just Dance on Switch, it was the better scoring then my joycons, sometimes if the best score or sometimes is the worst score.

I can't do the moves with my phone in my hand. To me it's stressing and uncomfortable playing JD with a phone. It's hard to track the moves. (I'm not native in English)

weird. i’m on switch with an iphone and my iphone score was waaaay lower. i’m new to the game so my joycon score was 9920 and iphone 8070… yeah i’m good with the joycon. my iphone kept saying i missed ones i didn’t, and it’s the newest one pro max.

Just dance is dead to me since I bought a series x. I was curious what they would use instead of a Kinect since that doesn't work on Xbox anymore apparently. I thought for sure they would be using the camera. I can't believe they're just using the phone for positioning. No way does this look comfortable of enjoyable. The best part about the Kinect was how accuracte it was with you limb positions and stuff. Total let down to see the route they went. I'll keep waiting till they come up with a better solution than using your phone as a joycon basically lol

The phone is soooo heavy compare to a joycon after a hour of game play my right arm is significantly tireder than my left. And it is gonna be expensive if I accidentally shoot it across the room.

So yeah, peeps, I don't recommend using your phone... Not recommended especially for clumsy people. One time, I accidentally threw my phone across the room, it somehow survived. I recommend consoles like Xbox and PlayStation. But if you're looking for a handy console, maybe go with Switch, it's also safer because it has the safety strap to avoid you from slipping the controller from your hand. But, the scoring isn't really that good there (especially in Love Story), and, it's kinda unstable there...

10:49 on ps xbox switch google stadia use the same files to read the scoring. checking on other consoles was pointless.

For Android the JD app is kinda bad. The app, not the phone because I tried it on many android phones and the app keeps messing up the scores

I've not this problem with my Android smartphone. Once a time I was dancing with a my friend, when we finished the song she says me "uff... you're mobile phone is less demandinng than my". She had an iPhone 8 and she wasn't very good on JD because she hadn't any console or Google Stadia, she asked me to swich our mobile phone and i accepted. The results was the same and her connection Wi-Fi wasn't very stable... in my opinion some "Ok" you can get it when you dancing too energeticly, even if your move is correct.

In my case, I have to say that if you play on xbox and you don´t have a kinect on your house, I recommend to play it with the phone and I am not agree that the iPhone is much better than the android to be honest I sometimes played with my android phone and I got 13k for example 2 days ago I played flash pose and I got 13198 something that on switch I just got 13274. Something It is true is that the phone doesn´t require a lot of tenique to get perfect than you have to put on the joy con for example in th last part of poster girl if you don´t your move correctly you got inmediatly x

I tried just dance on my iPhone 5S and my iPhone 11 I scored 1200 better on the 11 then the 5s very big dance difference

@@thefairydina I downloaded the app once.. but the code didn't work.. I kept typing in new & correct on my cell phone but it didn't work.. no matter whether I was using the Just dance 2023 controller app or the 2022.. nothing worked.. & the Ubisoft support didn't help me somehow :(

Xbox series x has a new kinect v3 model in the works that makes body tracking really good. Using a phone for tracking sounds seriously bad .

Story time!: When i was playing jd 2020, i but my character on my dance card as the bassa sabba unicorn, and it was the one i used the most. But whenever i would change it, after the next dance, it would change back. I tried to delete the dance card, but afterwards the dance card was equipped again! Idk if this was a bug or the unicorn is just……cursed Jd 2020 has been deleated off of my switch ever since

i play jd22 on stadia and with phone and i got full perfect on 10+ songs even tho my internet is shit

I personally like to believe the higher end phone you have, the better, I have a Galaxy S21 and moving from joycon to phone felt like a much better scoring experience, in the past i used to have a Galaxy A20 which felt bad in scoring.

Fellow mobile app user here, and this is my first time using the phone app as I have a new phone (Huawei Nova 9). Played JD2023 on my Switch and my siblings' Switch with it. Gotta say, the scoring and tracking is pretty good

A mí también me gusta más el Kinect, pero requiere mucho espacio y me cuesta colocarlo correctamente para obtener mejores puntuaciones.

Honestly if it comes to iPhone I don't think it's worth it while they are more expensive than Androids I believe. And I think Android could be fine but that's my opinion

Uncorrect, you cannot. The PS5 camera is not supported in Just Dance.

When it comes to Android the Samsung is better than the OnePlus so just play with a Samsung

I would say that if you're able to get your hands on an Xbox Kinect or a PS4 camera (or even a Nintendo Switch), then no it's not worth playing with your phone. I wouldn't want to risk throwing my smartphone!

For me, the best example of a phone not giving the actual score while I do the move perfectly is firework from Katy Perry. At some point the dancer extends the arm and then brings it back in the middle and then extends it again and so on and I take 5 or 6 consecutive "ok" no matter how perfectly i do the move. And that happens every time... I have to say that playing with your phone is a gamble with some songs getting random "ok" or "X" which got me thinking that it's not only the internet because I have tried this song many times throughout the year and "ok" is all I get. Another example of this random "X" or "ok" phenomenon is "God is a woman" (seated version)
