Hi I am brand new to selling on Poshmark and am just learning how to use the App. A pair of jeans I ordered just arrived. I like them, and they were nicely packaged, but they don't fit comfortably. Should I use the re-posh feature, .using the photos that my seller used?, Since I am such a novice this would work well for me but I don't want to upset or insult the seller…This is the first item I've bought from her.. I have time to think about this right?- Also we are currently at our summer vacation home, so re-poshing would be much easier.. We have a post office just down the street..Thanks for any advice to a Newbie.. (Jeans are hard to buy online!)

@@katherinedoherty8823 Hello and welcome to Poshmark! If the seller has the re-posh feature turned on, it would seem that it was ok with them but if you are worried, you could send them a message in a bundle and make sure it was ok.

My concern is when someone uses reposh to buy something and then list it (reposh) for for twice what they bought it for from the seller tagged in "reposhed from:

I've had reposhing turned off for 2 years now, yet I still find that some buyers take screenshots of my photos and paste them into their reposh setup much to my chagrin. I'm totally against this reposh feature. You mentioned in your video that the #1 reason sited by others is "condition"; and that hits the nail on the head in my opinion. But, I would further elaborate to say that condition integrity could degrade after any amount of time. All it takes is for a buyer to put on the jeans purchased from your closet that were in perfect condition, then within 10 minutes or perhaps 1 hour after putting them on for the first time, go into the kitchen to cook spaghetti and spill tomato paste all over the jeans. Or, go out in the backyard to play soccer with the kids and fall on your knees getting grass stains and/or a rip in the jeans. Now on the very same day that the jeans were first tried on, they are damaged. Now imagine the buyer saying to herself: "I've got to get rid of these! I'll resell these. Oh, thank goodness I can still use the seller's old photos! I can get some of my money back! and the blame for the bad condition will be put on the original seller and not me, Yay!" So now what happens? Here's what happens: Someone gets suckered into buying what they think are good quality jeans from the reposher, but they end up receiving torn, snagged, and/or stained jeans that cannot be cleaned or fixed. Now the reputation of the original seller is tarnished. The buyer who bought from the reposher will say to themselves, "Gosh, no wonder this seller is reselling these jeans from @so_and_so! The original seller is selling complete garbage!" Now the original seller's business takes a hit. When this happens enough times, your business is ruined. What boils my blood is that I work hard to build my poshmark business with excellent photos. Having my photos abused in this manner to represent something that is no longer accurate is frustrating and hurts my business. The buyer of what was once my jeans may now own the jeans herself, but she does not own my photographs. When I have reposhing turned off, I really do not want my photographs used via screenshots. It's copyright infringement. It's similar to an artist who sells an oil painting to someone, who in turn secretly makes and sells prints of the painting. There are laws against this type of behavior. If my buyer wants to resell what he/she bought from me, I do not want my name anywhere on the reseller's website that would associate the defective item with my closet. The best solution is for the reseller to: [1] take their own photos and [2] not include a description saying, "Reposhing this item I bought from @so_and_so. Loved it but ready to try something else..." My name and my poshmark handle should be omitted entirely from the description when I've got the reposh feature turned off.

Tori, I just used the reposh feature for the first time today. I'm a reseller who purchased a pair of sandals that didn't fit. I saw the reposh button and said to myself, " Why not?" It was really nice not to have to retake photos of the item. It was so easy! I will definitely use this again!!

Fiona, that is an awesome seller perspective. As a buyer, if I liked the photos it would be nice to not have to go through all the work again if something didn't fit. I definitely see the benefits for this situation.

I’m ok with it. I look at it as a form of customer service. Plus it’ll bring (hopefully) others to your closet. But will it? Idk.lol I’ll try it. I had someone reposh some heels from me that didn’t fit and I got a notification and an email when they used the feature.

I wouldn't use it myself as a seller . However I think it could benefit me as a seller by making my customers more comfortable about size issues if they could easily reposh the item. As far as my photos I do take care and time in creating them but if I already sold the item than I have already made my money. It seems rather stingy of me not to let someone else make their money back if the item didn't work for them. Of course that is just my opinion so I love that as a seller you have the ability to shut it off and not participate in reposhing. I would actually think about adding to my descriptions that I have it turned on and that they have the ability to reposh my items using my photos. I wonder if that could benefit sales?

Lisa, I definitely think that one of the pros is that it puts customers at ease so they feel better about buying something that doesn't fit and could definitely result in more sales from it. As a photographer, I see photos a tiny bit differently as the creative work of the artist but not everyone is attached to their work for sure. My biggest piece after thinking about it more last night is being associated with a seller who doesn't represent my brand so if something is off with the item and it doesn't match the photos, it could negatively impact my business. You have really great points too and thanks for sharing!

I have recently started using poshmark and noticed this at the bottom of the screen. As a buyer I love the fact that I can buy an item and if it doesn't fit the way I want it to or doesn't look good on me, I can re-posh it. I will be looking for this on my future purchases and it will allow me to try other sizes in brands I am not familiar with without stressing out that it will not fit and I will have to send it back. I absolutely love Poshmark ❤️

I'm a sellar on Poshmark. As a buyer when I get an order that doesn't work out for me,I wouldn't use the re-posh option.Personally when I see that an item I'm interested in is a re-posh.I automatically wonder what was wrong with it that you're reposhing it and I quickly decide not to buy it.Maybe if the person reposhing the item gave a specific reason why it didn't work for them it would be better. Not that stupid generic reason Posh puts stating"loved it,but looking to get something new"if you loved it so much why didn't you keep it??

I used the feature yesterday on a pair of shoes, however because it allowed the previous posh pics I still took current pics, as I want buyers to see how they looked when I bought them and the condition in which I'm selling so I way both sides and very careful due to as you said the previous seller's name is on the product picture and can see where it could get confusing. Loving the videos very helpful 🌸💜

Not sure why people are concerned about what happens to an item once they sell it. If someone sells it for more then you should not have sold it for a low price if it was going to be an issue. Heck if that was the case Goodwill might want to shut it’s doors down because resellers are in there All of the time.

I don't see a problem with re-selling something you brought for more then what you paid for it.I've gotten things from other poshers specifically for that reason. If someone is selling a name brand item at a extremely low price,I will buy it and list it in my closet at a higher price.

I’m against this feature because even if some thing didn’t fit for you or it was too small. I feel like you should take the time to take the pictures of the item and post them and wait for it to sell. You can use it to resell them mercari and other platforms. I am also a seller and I am against this feature I feel like you should return an item if it’s not as described. Because posh Mark does let you return items I returned an item to a seller once. It’s not a problem!

Yes but Poshmark only allow returns if the item wasn't described etc.. not for fit. right. I am considering re-poshing for fit and comfort reasons. IF I do so I would hope to recoup a good bit of what I spent and I would add that the item itself is great and I would recommend it and the seller.

@@katherinedoherty8823For me, I think it's about being honest with those you sell to and buy from. If someone buys an item from me, and for whatever reason, it doesn't work out for them, and they wish to relist it to recoup their monetary loss, I see nothing wrong with that. BUT, I would have an issue with someone taking an item that I listed at a fair price, and essentially turning around and using it to make a profit while using the work I did to create the listing to make that profit.

I sold a laptop backpack recently. I got a notification that the buyer reposhed it. I am new to Poshmark and didn’t know about this feature. After checking the listing it feels like a violation. I spent a good chunk of time making sure the pictures were perfect. I could care less if my closet is advertised on the photos. It still feels like the seller is being lazy and piggy backing off of my pictures. If she wants to resell it that is up to her but it feels tacky to use the same photos.

But having the nuts and bolts filled out is super helpful! As for people using it when they purchase from me, I'd rather they don't use my pics....but honestly, once I've been paid for something, I'm good! I figure if they do happen to use my pics, I'm not getting any less for the item than I had already planned on. I would not want people to use my pics if I modeled my items, however. Hiya Tori, this is actually a very sticky situation as legally photos belong to the person who took them (or if a large corp stock photos belong to them) & it’s legally plagiarism which should someone want, could sue over. I’m surprised Poshmark is promoting plagiarism! Otoh, if you have the re-posh feature on I’d suppose legally you’re giving permission for others to use your photos. Very sticky. I think you’re best off keeping it off, no link to your closet is a dealbreaker. Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🦇👻🎃☠️😈🕸🧙

If someone I purchase an item from has things in my size I check their closet. And if someone see's your name they may check out your closet and it's a bonus for you. And that didn't cost you anything except allowing someone to use your pics. Seems pretty shortsighted... not to mention greedy and selfish to not allow someone to use your pics.

@@marysmith861 - It has nothing to do w/ greed or shortsightedness, it’s the law. Copyright law is very clear. In addition, it’s a matter of ethics & morals as you’re profiting off someone else’s hard work (that part is greed, laziness IMO). In this case, I’ve seen many listings that use only stock photos, never showing the actual item so one would likely think this is what they’re getting. When it shows up, they realise they’ve been scammed. I’m an internationally published professional author/writer. We don’t get paid near what people think (standard royalties are laughable), almost every pro author/writer has another source of income (always exceptions). It’s time consuming, hard work to put out well written work for which we’re not nearly compensated properly, it’s a labour of love. Since around 96-97 (crazy- whilst researching a project accidentally found old articles from the 80s I wrote!) people have taken entire chapters, articles published online, claimed as theirs. Is it fair that someone else profits off my hard work? Claiming they did the work? I’ve had to have my attorney send more cease and desist letters than I can count as it’s common they ignore my politely written cease and desist emails, instead choosing to claim my copyrighted, hard work as theirs. (Btw everything I write, including this is copyrighted. If I wrote my phone # on a cocktail napkin, it was passed on w/out permission it’s copyright violation. Precedent was set decades ago.) Is it greed to want at the very least to have someone ask permission, include credit where due as the author instead of outright theft? The same goes w/ stock photos. Someone paid a great sum of $ to have professional photos taken. Hair, makeup, stylists, assistants, photographers, more. I sourced, styled, did hair, makeup for every type of media in the 80s-mid 2000s, paid quite handsomely for doing just one of those things (much more if I did more) & that’s just *one* person! (Still do styling, sourcing, consulting on the side for every form of media, a part of my life kept intensely private for various reasons.) Add in the rest, quite a hefty sum is paid. Morally, ethically is it fair to profit off someone else’s property w/out permission? No. Nor is it legal, which puts you at risk of legal action should any entity decide to pursue that course of action. I hope that clarifies things for you (not enough caffeine yet😆)! Feel free to ask me for further clarification! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️😻🏠🐾🐈‍⬛🙏🏼🤞😢💔 PS sorry for length, tried to illustrate the stock photo controversy in the easiest way possible (not so easy😉).
