in this case, if you have a router from the provider and you connect the second router to the network via a cable and you want a more stable network, it is better to set it as ap clieta there, so that the dhcp server is no longer assigned and it is a faster way than having sable wifi and a faster network only thanks to the fact that the router no longer assigns so many tasks to the router

If you're the DIY type, a pfsense project with mounted APs is a lot of fun. An old Core 2 Duo mini tower for like $30 and another $20 for a dual gigabit nic card and another $20 for a cheap SSD will open the door to a cached proxy server (squid), a VPN server, the ability for multi-WAN failover and a bunch of cool enterprise grade features... not to mention even a decade old PC has more horsepower than the best consumer grade routers. It's not power efficient at all, but I used to run a spare free Pentium 4 box for this that did just fine serving up 150Mbps of throughput (max for my internet)..... the ISP router was 40Mbps slower. You'll definitely want to make sure your ISP modem is set to bridge mode for best performance.

I just connected to Spectrums 400 service and my speed test numbers say that my broadband is very fast but my up or down aren't over 100 mbps?? should I stay with my current Spectrum router or invest in a new rooter?

If you have a router that is separate from the modem and not one of those modem/router combos I would suggest investing in your own router and get the best you can afford to take advantage of your speed tier

Panda Bard You should always upgrade the firmware to the latest for best security and it shouldn't damage the router but you might run into glitches but those usually can be fixed by reseting the router (pressing the pin hole button) that most routers have. You would have to setup the router again if you do this though

Panda Bard Usually you can do it on wireless with no issues but wired is recommended especially if your downloading the firmware to a computer and uploading it to the router. Key thing is don't interupt the update process

You can, but you have to first figure out what you get 4Mbps. What is your plan with your internet provider? If you consistently get the speeds you pay for (or close), then there isn't anything else to do short of upgrading to a faster internet plan.

In Germany with Lan Cable and Without a Fiber Optic Cable you get about 35 ping ( depends on where you live) 36 Dowload Mbps and 8 Upload Mbps..
