My advice to new players: Take basic package, so you're mobile. Finish your in-game tutorial (around 30 mins). Join a large organisation such as The Corporation or GII and simply join them on one of their events. It's fun, people are very friendly and willing to help out and more often than not, you'll make a lot of cash in the process. Waaaay more than if you were to do solo missions. I'm talking around a million a day without too much effort. Then go ahead and buy a ship you want for in-game money. You can even ask someone to try to pilot their ship. Just be polite about it and it's expected at that point that you already know how to fly at least your starter one of course. Also, everything said in this video is true. It can be a money pit. Don't buy anything for real money if you don't have at least 100 hours in the game. SC is *the experience* , in every sense of the word.

100% I may even argue one of the $60 to $75 packages are worth it as well depending on what you think you want to do. The Pieces medical is a perfect example. It is a little bit more expensive than a basic Pieces or Aurora package, but the med bed really does come in handy. Hunger or dehydration are basically a thing of the past due to the med bed in my Pieces Medical. That said, I broke my own rules when the Hornet MK2 came out because it is gorgeous and I primarily dog fight. I also got the VKB Gladiator dual joystick set up but I do not consider that a Star Citizen expense since they can and have been used with other games.

We're nearing a point where more of the public will take an interest in Star Citizen as server meshing roles out. And those new people will not be as tolerant as the backers way back in the beginning of what I can only see as utter nonsense on the developer side.

This game allows for some of the most fun, unhinged things to happen. I’ve have a ship be disabled by distortion. Then I was boarded, killed the boarders, stole their ship, got into a multi planet chase, got shot down, jumped out the back of the C1 and was rescued by my boys. The bugs can be crazy some times but when it’s performing well it’s a fucking blast.

I always tell people before they spend a dime to try one of the quarterly free fly weeks to make sure their PC can handle it and the servers and bugs are at their worst usually. If they can still see the alure through all that then buy in or wait until its acceptable enough to do so. The community are some of the best when it comes to helping out new players and bringing them along on adventures. Yes, the marketing team is slick enough to sell ice to penguins in a blizzard but that is because the product sells itself when its hitting on all cylinders or it would have died out long ago. The real-time demo of the game engine they built up alone put Starfield to shame and I am a Bethesda fan. The single player game that is coming is what I am looking forward to as an old Wing Commander/Privateer/Freelancer fan. It has an immersive scale and detail like nothing else but is a work in progress not for the faint of heart or impatient.

Subbed. I appreciate your balanced opinions on the game's development, and I find that they mirror my own. I've been playing on/off since 2016 and I'm burned out by the extreme opinions/takes on both sides of the spectrum of SC content creators, "shills" and "scams".

Here is the best answer i can give a person who is considering jumping in to SC. It is a sand box that has no story line to follow, so if you want an entire solar system to go and entertain yourself in then go for it. If you are looking for a story line, then hold off until Squadron 42, and if you really enjoyed it, jump in then. The way i look at SC is like the end game of an MMO where you have finished the main story line and are doing end game, game loops. Where i feel it shines like a gem is it's space dog fighting. It is more like MS Flight simulator than a open world game in many aspects.

This is the one and only game it's worth playing for me, right now. I love the Bounty Hunting system. Maybe i give later PoE 2 a try, in the beta phase.

Buy a Cutter Package or whatever is on sale during events with discount, upgrade up to an Avenger Titan if you feel like it and DONT go higher, its an endless rabbit hole of money sink....... You can earn any ship ingame, and from someone who have a lot of money into it, after you have a lot of ships from real money, whats to grind for... i know it will be content "later" its an alpha... bla bla bla... but for how long you will feel the void to no have anything to progress towards.... so for that i say, dont real money buy anything over a Titan.

This isnt a gane yet, it is an alpha playground. The single player is the real game. This open verse is a long term goal of insanity. It feels like they are building a universe and not a game. This is a game that could last 50years. We git MMO games already going 20+ years so that is not a crazy idea. Best of all, no monthly fees!

As a backer since 2016, no. Maybe pick up a discounted package when they go on sale, but the potential of SC is just that, potential.

I mean, it's ok to try out but I don't understand sinking a lot of time in to this when they are still doing full wipes a couple of times a year. And I say that as an early backer, I play about an hour a year.

I don't mean to nitpick, but the last full wipe was about a year and a half ago. prior to that, it was about a year. So it would be far more resonable to say full wipes occur about once per year.

You dont get a 48000 dollars ship to win, you get it if you have a large clan/community. You dont fly the big ships yourself, its almost impossible to do it.

i would like to try playing the game but i will never do in game purchases and not just for this game but any game that has them

that's completely fair, I think i played clash of clans for like 4 years and never gave into any impulses to buy progression, it was a grind but i held strong. Thanks for the view and comment =]

never spend more money then you can afford an i will say best ship you can Chose is Titam an if you want to spend 100 bugs or more its eter cutless black or a c1 thatcan do both cargo antransport or grond combat or space for mining on them but i say to you here do not buy a huge 400 doler ship is stupid an you can almost buy any whip ingame with some work. an if you relly like mining an relly want to own your own ship a prospector will always make you money easy also. 155 dollars

Not unless you are a pirate because there is not enough content to be lawful.

Let's be honest, paying $75USD or $110AUD, which is what I intend to spend when my controllers turn up for my new rig, for a starter pack is actually more expensive than purchasing many fully developed high end games. That's not to say Star Citizen isn't a great game, but it can very quickly become an expensive pain in the backside, especially when you come across a glitch that effectively cancels hours of work you have just spent trying to attain a certain goal, to only find after the restart you have to start all over again. Even so, when you have a good gaming session, which is quite frequent, there is no better game. Even with all the glitches, Star Citizen is a genuine benchmark that is head and shoulders above every other space game out there. Yes, if you are a person that gets easily frustrated and disheartened, then you may well struggle playing Star Citizen, but with a little patience, I guarantee, this spectacular game will blow your fu*king mind.

I've spent more time messing around in just the carrack than I do most whole games. I'm probably going to spend hours decorating my hanger and collecting dogs to be pets once 23.2 goes live. And there is NOTHING like FPV combat inside a ship that's participating in PvP space fight. Standing on the lowered Connie bay and firing grenades and rail guns at anything that moves, frantically loading drugs into your ship waiting for the sound of the A2 to ruin ur day. I've been playing since 2015, so for me this is just a pleasure to play

Yeh, tell about it, my old laptop did the job but it struggled at times so I have taken a break until I bought my new rig. Now I'm waiting on my new controllers, and then I plan on a new account using the Carrack this time instead of the Titan. I'm really looking forward to seeing the improvements since I last played. I’m a player and my answer is, now NO. It’s always a joy for the eyes, the spaceships are awesome, some game features are simply futuristic, but… Bugs, bugs and bugs. Buy your cool looking armour, pack yourself with grenades and guns, ready to get some action, go to the landing pad, start your colossal ship, can’t fly, an invisible wire is blocking your ship, go back to store it and retrieve it again, now it works, prepare for quantum flight, the destination is locked in front of you, quantum doesn’t engage, turn off, on, off, on, wait and finally it locks it, 20 minutes passed by. I don’t even mention all the other bugs, I want to play to relax, have fun, this game could be the best, but now it just too messy, it can really ruin your evenings. Uninstalled, going to wait a couple of year for further updates.

you don't understand you only need to buy a 45$ package and any other ship you earn in game simple as that. most people don't understand its a TECH DEMO till version 1.0 is released.

Star Shitizen is only worth playing for those who enjoy spinning their wheels due to account wipes that have happened quite often. Enjoy the wipes.

@@Citizen_Jim 3.23 Credits wipe. Followed by a huge dupe bug that nullified the credits wipe followed by a mass ban of 600 accounts who exploited the dupe bug. There will have to be another credits wipe to counter the dupe glitch so many people exploited. There are no reasons to enter this "game" until the wipes become less frequent. I have better things to do than pretend to be a lab rat running on a treadmill in place. IMHO.

Yes, absolutely. It's in Alpha. That needs to always be clearly understood, unfortunately most don't understand what that actually means and those that do often forget about that part once they have joined. I find it best to step away and take a break for awhile. But you are absolutely right, spinning your wheels sums up a lot of the experience from one patch to another. With new additions of mechanics it seems the most basic things that have worked for years get broken. For instance auto landing is no longer working anymore.

I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone, yet. Wait until their server and database issues are fixed first. I finally bought the game at the start of the last Invictus free fly, and only played until the next patch (3.23.1a) before quitting, because every time this game has a patch, there is a good chance you lose ships and items. I lost half of my ships and well over 50 sets of ground gear. No point in playing a game if you lose everything you grinded for every month or so.

that's unfortunate, if no one told you *which shouldn't need to happen I agree* make sure any in game purchased ships are in a deliverable state, they can't be destroyed or unavailable when a patch hits. if they are for whatever reason they wont persist through the update.

@@Citizen_Jim Appreciate the tip, but it can still happen even when stored. The ones I lost were stored safely, yet the one I hadn't stored somehow persisted. I've been paying attention to the issue tracker though, and it does seem that if the ship is destroyed there is a higher chance of losing it. This has apparently been a problem for awhile now.

It is a mess, with horrendous interface and a terrible flight mode. It is fun to fly around but I see it worse then it was in 3.22 (not a small feat!) except for upscaling and Vulkan

If only they would finish what they have now, fix bugs and stop adding stuff and release the fecking game, they could add all the other stuff with updates latter.

That's unfortunately not even really an option for them, but I understand the mentality of it. They simply have to deliver on server meshing and an actual economy, industry, and all the loops to support each other before I'd be willing to let them refine what we have.

For almost 8 years of this game I invested around $7000 and still the game is asking for more. $20K DLC? Are they kidding me? I gave up on this game that will never be fully released.

@@AbangSyaft my and my 5 other friends started playing the game with back almost 8 years ago. I bought the Polaris. After that I bought few fighters and We wanted to play together so I bought the Javelin Destroyer. For me spending money for game is not an issue cause I run a shipyard. But I want the game to delivered. Every time a DLC comes out you have to buy it and the price keep going up. I don't care if you believe or not. I am kind of tired of their none delivered promises

Tell me, which date and point of time you can purchase a Javelin? Plus, even all of that, it doesnt equate to $7000. Which promises did you expect that didnt got out?
