I'm very glad to have found your channel. First off, I hope that everyone stays safe in the coming days. We leave for Iceland and Germany in just over two weeks. Connecting through Keflavik on the way out and then staying in Iceland on the way back. The hotel we had booked since like March 2023 is in Grindavik, so we've had to change those plans. Still hope that we will be able to see your beautiful country.

It is indeed a sad situation for people from Grindavík. Regarding the flights as far as we know that should not get affected if volcano erupts. But like I always say, we can not always predict the nature and so let's wait and see what upcoming days will bring

Thank you for your informative video. I have heard that some people have been able to return very briefly to their homes today to collect some things, but now even emergency services have retreated. I noticed how orderly and organised it all was and my heart goes out to this town as this may be the last time it's residents are able to go home or see their homes again with this unpredictable, ever changing and ongoing situation.

Let's hope that they will be able to return to their homes some day. There's still a little chance that the magma will find its way up at a little different location

I do look forward to seeing your beautiful country and the Northern Lights if nature cooperates ! My family is worried but I still feel I will travel .

Good one, Yes, I'd check my insurance and travel anyway to Keflavik probably. In July I travelled to Iceland for the 5th time just 9 days atfter Litli Hrutur started erupting and stayed the night with some 50 people on the 'viewing hill', a bucketlist experience. If the imminent volcano is what you travel for, then wait a couple of days after start and check if it is safe. Iceland has lots more to travel with many more geothermal pools than the (currently closed) Blue Lagoon.

I really want to visit Iceland someday. But I have a slight fear of volcanoes. A phobia even. A dormant Mt. St. Helens even gives me the heebee jeebees. Which is funny because I did not grow up even close to one. To my knowledge, we only have volcanoes in British Columbia, and those are either dead or dormant.

likelihood of the eruption is still high but I don't think you have to worry. even if volcano erupts, at the moment it is not expected to affect the flights in and out from the country

I'm very curious, are there some people working in the Power Plant presently or is it running on some automated system? That's not a really safe place to be, for sure.

I'm a travel agent in eastern Canada and have groups booked for next year. Even if it was now I would still go. As you mentioned, there is so much to do and see in Iceland besides the Blue Lagoon area....there are some lovely spas to use instead. Crossing my fingers for Iceland!

@@Ryley271 Airlines are still operating on schedule with no provision for changing or cancelling unless you purchased a fare type that allows it. If it erupts before you travel then they will allow changes/rebookings....as the video says it's localized so if the eruption is small then it's business as usual. I've been leading groups for over 20 years and I would absolutely still go.

As of the moment Í write this, we do not know the situatin with the animal´s being fullu resolved, we know some sheep and horses were moved from the area, but media is distressingly silent on the household pets. Hopefully we will know more tomorrow, as they are letting people into town under supervision.

I really like your videos, no overestimating or horror scenarios. I really like the style and quality of your videos, also you have a very calm voice. You deserve a lot more subscribers!

I have been to Iceland twice. Last year and this past summer. My husband and I we wanted to go back now in December for 4 nights in Reykjavik. We wanted to experience the Christmas flair and also take a chance for the northern lights as the trip was just a stop over on our way to Oslo and then, Tromso. Icelandair offers stop overs in Iceland with no extra costs when flying from north America and europe and vice versa, I guess. We are flying from NYC. But given the situation, we don’t know how the situation is going to escalate, we changed our plans and we booked another route to Oslo a few days there, then Tromso. Reykjavik was a good option to break the trip in two but it is what it is. I feel sad about the change of plans because I love Iceland so much, but I feel more sad for the people of Grindavik who are about to loose their properties and whatever they worked for. The whole situation is very sad. Not easy to know that the chances that you’re about to to loose your home when winter is at the door steps and Christmas holidays is coming is really sad. No one wants a catastrophe. Sending my best wishes to the people of Grindavik and praying for a better outcome. As for me, iceland I’m afraid will have to wait. I think changing plans was the best decision. Thanks for your update and line your videos for some tips when I went to Iceland. I hope to make it to the western fjords and the highlands next time. Stay safe.

There is no need for changing plans because of this ,there is diminished likelihood of eruption,and if it will be eruption it doesn’t matter for people visiting Iceland

I came from a land of volcanoes too. And base on my experience of having seen volcanic erruptions, i can say that the danger zone really is only the town where the volcano is located. The problem why it seems more horrible than it is, is because videos that swarmed all over the internet are refering the disaster to a country. Instead of saying disaster in a town in Iceland, they always put captions like "Disaster in Iceland" and adding videos or pictures of past horrible erruptions that has nothing to do with current situation.

I was in Iceland 2 years ago, I did a ring-road-trip and I wanted to see erupting volcano. But the day I visited the volcano it was dead... not even small smoke was comming from it. So you have to count with it. The next day it was erupting again, but I had to return the car already in the morning. Damn! But all other natural wonders I visited was 100% worth the trip. So do not plan to visit the volcano... plan everything else and the volcano can by your bonus.
