    They really ripped you off at 15k RMB a month, especially in Shenzhen. Even if they gave you an apartment. A native speaker with two years of relatable experience or a TEFL/tesl working legally should take no less than 25k a month on the lowest end, with the average salary being 28k-32k. It sounds like they didn't have you on a teaching work visa; however, since you said you didn't need the TEFL/TESOL.
