How do you feel about flat shoes? I use vans which are made for good board feel on a skateboard. I’m also curious about squat specific shoes that are made with built in heels. How does that compare to barefoot?
@Bei_Gandalfs_Bart
Жыл бұрын
As someone who liftes barefoot for years I can just recommend you to try Powerlifting shoes. They have a slighty elevated heel, but not so much as specific squat shoes. It prevents you from falling forward and you have more control over your weight. I honestly don't know what these people are talking about. If you could really have more stability squatting barefoot, everyone would do it in Powerlifting. But that's not the case.
I might just be too use to squatting in my vans but whenever I try barefoot I feel more unstable.
I have plantar fashitis. Ant tips.
I always squat barefoot, and you feel it when you feet are mal positioned
I can't ever do the foot thing properly at some point during the descend or ascend the it shifts back and forth. What about squat socks?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Joke's on you, I don't have gym/hall sports shoes so I'm already squatting in socks.
Bought a pair of minimalist Vibram toe shoes and it's the best thing I've done for my squat (not a fan of letting my foot stench loose at the gym)
Hey Squat University, do you still recommend that for people with flat feet? Mine is genetics (literally everyone on my father's side has flat feet) and I don't think much can be done to "create" an arch, so i was wondering if it's safe to squat barefoot in my case. Thanks
@SquatUniversity
Жыл бұрын
It’d say it depends. For Some, yes. It’s just a matter of learning foot balance & not worrying about how much of an arch you can create. Foot function / not focused on the appearance of the arch basically. Now there are some that have a very compensated foot that do need some support but in my experience that % is VERY low and most who have flat feet just have very very low arches and a ton of mobility in the foot - therefore they would definitely benefit from barefoot training. Just have to go slow and make quality the squat the most important
Yessss :D

Lifting barefoot or wearing "wide toebox shoes" seems to be the solution for everything on this channel. I think it's a dangerous and stupid advice. I lifted barefoot for years, because I couldn't afford Powerlifting shoes. When I finally got a pair, it changed everything for me. @@slick4415 that’s only if the toe is narrow, if your big toe is extended outward like you’re gripping the ground with your feet, your feet form a naturally arch because the muscles are in the position they’re supposed to be in. Arched shoes provide an arch only when you’re in them and make your feet flat when you don’t have them on because those muscles that make the natural arch weren’t being used and aren’t strong enough. When I started squatting bare foot my foot definitely felt a burn because I was building those arch forming muscles.
