I was just thinking about you guys the other day! Man, do they grow. That’s one thing that always shocked me because I wouldn’t necessarily see mine all the time but then I’d do a deep clean of their “pond” like once a month or so and every time they’d just EXPAND. I’d love to see more about how you keep his tank as honestly I just been kind of winging it (in an educated way) for past however many years 😬

Definitely would love to do more videos on him in the future! Right now he’s in a very lame tub set up because the bottom of his tank cracked and leaked everywhere 😵‍💫

All valid points! I can wait patiently for my Jugger to get big...plenty to enjoy the next decade or so before he (she?) becomes a monster! Good job!

Im dying for Sploosh to get bigger! Im very impatient, but also I’m grateful I will have had him from a baby once he is nice and big! Especially since he’s an education animal … it’s always helpful to have been hands on with an animal practically their whole life 😁

Good video and it’s nice to see that lil one putting on some size. Another point for some would be they are not an interactive turtle. They spend the vast majority of their time half buried in the sand and one of mine even likes their head literally in the sand. If they are not completely out of sight they will be luring for a meal, sometimes for more than an hour with only a couple seconds spent grabbing a bit of air. At no point will they be swimming around to greet you at the tank like a painted turtle or slider. But for me, I enjoy sneaking up on them to catch a glimpse of them. If I come up slow, they will still lure but if they are not luring and you walk up to look into the tank, they will go hide. So depending on the keepers personality, that could be a good or bad thing. I agree on how big they can and will get and being able and willing to provide a proper home for them. Mine are currently in a 60B and I will decide if I would like to get a much larger aquarium (180) or go stock tank. I have some time. I also plan to do an outdoor pond when they pass 6” or so in carapace length. I see so many videos of very small pet AST but very few of turtles over 6-7” shell length. I just wonder where these turtles end up. Hopefully the keepers just stop doing updates.

All great points! Love hearing about your future plans! I feel like I mostly see adult snappers with educators, but I have seen a couple in the snapping turtle groups on Facebook! Def not many though, you are right. I know the guy I got mine from has a policy where if you ever need to send the turtle back to him for any reason (the large size included) he will happily take them back. Im wondering if most keepers send them back when they start getting too big and that’s why we don’t see very many large pet snappers

A buddy and me helped one from some kids that snagged it with a treble hook in his foot we got him in our bathroom and it is big its head reached over halfway down its back but while we were getting the hook out it was shockingly calm ot never tried to bite or get away one of my hands was easily close enough for it to grab but for whatever reason it didnt. Only time it was aggressive was moving it
