Should You Get a Tattoo BEFORE Building Muscle? Stretching, Deforming, & Vascularity

I get this question asked so much and for the most part there's a general answer to it, but you can run into scenarios where it's unclear. In this video I go over and talk about when you should get a tattoo if you're planning on building muscle, how tattoos will effect your current muscular look and how long you should wait to workout after getting a new tattoo.

    @@kalvinsucks1910 Not sure why you had to get all defensive and make it personal and attack me but it just shows your intellectual insecurities. So after getting an arm sleeve done, with the inside elbow crook healing, you don't think constant repetitive flexion when doing actions like curls, bench press, pull ups etc, have a negative effect on the healing process and can effect the scabbing/flaking of said tattoo? Same can be said with most joints, like the knees and even shoulders. I understand you're a one of those gym bros that likes to make yourself feel better by putting other people down, I deal with your types all the time but please don't use your ignorance to promote your thoughts. HIIT exercise is just as bad for having your clothing rubbing on the tattoo and negatively affecting the scbabing/healing process. Unless you're working out completely naked of course. If you're the cause of your tattoos scab/flakes coming off early, then you're to blame and that tattoo is not as healed and clean as it could be because you just took out more ink from the skin then would have happened naturally. Now that I've completely disproved your ridiculous thoughts, let me just add that I'm an ACE CPT so I know a thing or two about lifting and form. So before you open your mouth to speak, I suggest you actually try using those critical thinking skills that you're clearly lacking and just do better.

    I do bodybuilding, myself. I recently covered my abs up with a big stomach tattoo. In the month and a half leading up to the tattoo, I did a pretty heavy cut so I could take some pictures of my six-pack before covering it up forever. It looks awesome, though, so I have no regrets. Have other tattoos from before I got into body building. Never really notice any stretching or distortion, even on my inner bicep tattoo.

And still some parts of the skin hurt when I stretch it so I guess the complete healing comes after 1 month.

    Great videos Justin,these really help tattoo newcomers. I was obese as a kid,lost 35kg before high school- I was skinny asf back than. After that started doing mma and going to the gym so after 3 years of that I was 87kg 10% body fat and btw I'm 6.4... And let me tell all of you who are planning on bulking up,you can get a tattoo right now as long as you stay natural,if you take steroids your skin will stretch much more and if you stop most of your gains will be lost so your skin is gonna go back and forth and its gonna ruin your tatts. Also on the topic of tatts hiding your veins and definition: I have veins all over my arms (forearms,biceps,front delts) also you can do muscle anatomy how visible my muscles are trough my skin because I am at 9-10%. After I got my sleeve done you can only see it if you focus on it,I mean its there but still its not as visible... So yeah if you want definition and veins don't get tattooed but hey I like em both :)

    I used to be ripped in college and hit a barrier due to two sports injuries. I decided to face it, get the two surgeries I needed and finally be able to surpass that wall that pain wouldn’t allow me to pass. The docs loaded me up with pills for 6 months while I healed. No one ever said a single word about addiction or even cautioned me. I was getting 90 vics a month then every two weeks, then percs and by the time I realized I wasn’t in pain but was still taking the pills it was too late. My chemistry had been rewritten and my drive for fitness was replaced with an unquenchable lust for relief from withdrawal symptoms. Soon I didn’t even get a buzz from the strongest stuff. I had to take pills just to stay healthy and function. I would wake up in the washroom sleeping on the washer not knowing how I got there. Years have gone by and I’ve thankfully overcome this battle. I will continue the fight every day until I see glory but at least now I can say I’m on the other side as it’s been since July of 2014 and I’m as committed as can be to my sobriety and family. Let this be a caution to all. Warn your children and friends and family of this crap. By the time a doc finally took the time to question whether I was addicted it was far too late and they banished me in shame rather than realizing it was them who fed me, a 20 year old college kid, pills I had never heard of, didn’t ask for and with NO WARNING that they would absolutely ruin my life and turn me into a thieving lying monster. I take responsibility for it all, but looking back, they should have been responsible as well. I trusted them and when they got me hooked they then looked at me like I was a leper and cast me out to figure it all out on my own. All that said, I’m finally seeking my fitness goals again, 17 years later. Won’t let this be a sob story though. I’ve got two beautiful children who love the Lord and are growing up fully equipped to battle addiction and leave it broken rather than breaking them. If this battle and the wounds my loved ones and I carry benefits them, and anyone else as well, then I’d say it was at least meaningful if not more. I’m doing 1k push-ups a day already in just two weeks and quickly getting the rhythm and energy back again. Amazing how long our body’s memory can last. Anyway, say some prayers for me when you can, and I’ll do the same for “you.” God bless!

  • @kingpersonking967

    @kingpersonking967

    4 жыл бұрын

    Achraf Drilla The best thing to do is to follow the directions your artist gave you. You have to find a happy medium between having too much moisture and not enough. If there’s too much: there’s a possibility of infection. If the scabs dry too much it could crack and bleed (possibly losing pigment or getting infected) .... If your scabs are gone, then pretty much any time your skin feels dry, use a little moisturizer (exfoliating occasionally is also good to keep your tattoo looking good as new)

    Glsd to found this topic! I have yo yo weight due to hormonal issue, and luckily by instinct I choose placeme t that historically i know the body part doesn't change size or at least not much; avoid the place where fat always stored more, or muscle easily will make the space bulky, and so far even during decades my tattoo and drastic weight change even the big pieces one still look good and not distorted. Pay attention to your body. Everyone is unique!

    So I think there's ups and downs to it, because tattoos look cool, but so does muscle. So if you're not really lean and musclular, a tattoo will likely improve the look of the area, with the flipside being that if you ARE pretty lean and muscular and you LIKE the look of your muscles, you probably won't want to hide them with a tattoo. My perspective is, I've got two sides of my body, and so long as I have an interest in building muscle, I'll probably only get tattoos on one of anything I have. For example, I've got a good portion of my left outer upper arm covered with a tattoo, and when I first noticed that I couldn't really see my left delt anymore (while I was flexing at myself in the mirror like a douchebag) I was a little bummed out, but then I was like "Oh wait my whole right arm, which is the bigger one anyways, is still totally visible." So I can still see my right delt, bicep and tricep grow even though the left ones are obscured, so it's fine.
