Lived in Laos for six years. Please go to Luang Prabang the old capital, I guarantee you’ll be blown away how many temples there are. And, extremely laid back. Please go and tell me how right I am. 🙏David Ostertag

Laos is amazing you need to go further up north to places like vang vien and the likes mate it gets even more amazing and to 4000 islands in laos further south Beer lao my favourite beer
Adam, you mentioned that going over to Laos is a great getaway either at the beginning or towards the end of your trip to Thailand,… an even better time would be “ in the middle “,.. especially for those looking to stay in Thailand for 90 days , you wouldn’t need a 60 day tourist evisa prior to getting there and then the 30 day extension at a local thai immigration,… you could simply get the 45 day visa exemption on arrival to Thailand , fly over to Laos towards the end of your 45 day stay, then fly back and get another 45 day visa exemption on arrival ( the $40 you save on the evisa , and the 1900 baht 30 day extension fee you save would pay for your round trip airfare to Laos )

Been to Laos twice. Love it! When I move back to Isaan I’ll be going more. Especially since I got a vehicle passport for my pickup. Oh larb and som dtam come from Laos originally. Just FYI.

Talked to my brother in law (who just got married in the Philippines)he's trying to tell me that even the nice hotels..geckos..mice (or rats 🐀)and a variety of roaches etc are present. In the Philippines or anywhere in South East Asia, I do occasionally see rats in the street - Especially in Bangkok.. but NEVER in the room or hotels.. no way!

Just a suggestion but you should explore Vang Vieng in Northern Laos it's has great activities and good for youtubing: Kayaking, Cave's, and Zip Lining. Enjoy Laos!

Did you see any signs of the military crackdowns that has happened the last few years, especially 3-4 years ago there were some serious problems there. as you mentioned it looks very nice and calm, and buildings are beautiful. safe travels
