For those of you wanting RWD - don't forget the MF-01X chassis has a rear mounted motor, so you can just build it without the prop-shaft and front differential if you want rear wheel drive only.

That's the beauty of the hobby, you build any kit to what spec you like. Mix n match stuff it doesn't matter.

The friction shocks/dampers were meant to work without fail in water, mud and snow which is important especially for those who will receive it as a gift and new to the world of RC. No troubleshooting defective/worn out o-rings or bladders :) Bearings seize, bushings wont :D

Love the stills at the start, they look like the Eiffel Rally and WRC Catalunya 2009, Kevin had just restored the car and I fell in love with it (we were entered in another car). It’s just a shame they’ve not copied the huge arches but I can see why. As for the comments on ground clearance, ‘47S was a tarmac spec car built for one event, it doesn’t need loads of ground clearance!

I'm still waiting for the body to be released, but I did something similar. I used an M06 that I converted to RA spec as I too wanted it to be proper RWD.

Yep, I forgot about that one. That’s a load of work for them adding three independent layers. One thing about the bus I don’t get is, what’s with the waves in the roof? It looks like it was going to be a soft top but it never happened.

I found these for €170. Very tempting as I am a Ford fan.

The tamiya suzuki swift sport (M-05L) 58679 also comes with a pre-painted body that has tinted windows and clear headlights.

I've just got mine I bought a razor ten 4000kv brushless combo motor and bearings what other up grades would you recommend before I build it.

Order metal bearings for it bud and fit from start you will not be disappointed. Don't do what I did and have to completely strip back down to fit new bearings. Bit sad of tamiya not to supply with kit but I'm sure everyone that gets these kits order bearings not long after so they must make a fortune on them.

Ditch the plastic bushings and get the sealed bearings, at a minimum.

Good shout mate I bought a tamiya calibre about 10 years ago and didn't know about hop up parts so imagine when I found out you could put real bearings in I was gutted. Anyway as you can guess I got the bearings and the sport tuned motor and the difference was night and day enjoy bud!

I'd say the biggest selling point is that it is a Mk.2 Escort especially for us older enthusiasts :D

I've only recently started looking into RC cars and I've noticed that Tamiya seem to have quite an enthusiastic following. As an outsider to the hobby, I'm struggling to figure out why. They don't seem to be geared towards performance and seeing how most of the kits I've looked at don't even have the appropriate drivetrain configuration, they can't even claim accuracy. I don't get it.

I can’t say for other but for me it’s about nostalgia and a lot of the 80s buggies and cars. It also depends on what you are looking for in an RC. If you want to do big air and give it a good bashing at the skate part or you want to take up competitive racing, you don’t look at Tamiya.

Not issues so far my end.

It looked a bit like the wheels might not be right for the wheel arches .. unless that an optical illusion..

Any overspray film? Yeah, I do realise it's already painted, but would hate ya to start the decals and then find out..

Yes people this kit comes with nasty plastic bearings you can get real bearings for this and it saves having to strip down if you just put them in from start.

Build on channel please... swap later if you must

I was just taking the bumper off the M08. That wasn’t really relevant to the Escort unboxing but more me getting distracted lol. I get what you are saying and I almost deleted that part but left it in.

Get yourself an X-Maxx already and enjoy some bashing. Your missing out on a great part of the hobby.

Yep I 1000% agree but I can’t invest the £1,000 in a single car while the channel is still so small. Hopefully one day 👍🏻👍🏻

So they charge you the price of what the metal parts should already be in the basic kit, but in Tamiya fashion, they charge twice what the kit is worth then another 2x for the parts that should have been in the base kit for the price they sold the base kit for. Typical Tamiya, no business being in the RC game. Static models and paint only. Those are the only two things Tamiya makes well.
