    Hi Ashley, please make a video on how your children have adapted to living in South Africa. If they've picked up any of our mannerism, any speech patterns, words or phrases. If they've made any friends and if they like living in South Africa etc. It would be interesting to find out how they're getting along.

  • @wendyj.2833

    @wendyj.2833

    It wasn't really clickbait because what she talked about was exactly as the title suggests. She gave reasons why some folks may not want to go at this exact time, or what they need to be aware of if they do travel there. I felt a little deflated at first, too. I guess it was more so a walking a fine line thing.

    Very unnecessary title for this video. It reads like those travel advisories from US/UK embassies. Our election cycle over here is very different; people are passionate about their parties, but respectful of political differences and there is no political violence/intolerance. We will have peaceful elections come May 29th. Winters are relatively mild compared to some parts of your New England or Midwest. Load shedding is an ongoing manageable issue, and we have yet to see a total Grid collapse as predicted by some doomsayers.

    In August 2016 I came to Cape Town S.Africa with my church to do some missionary work. IT WAS COLD! We knew to expect cold weather because we had an in-country host that had pre-warned us to bring coats and gloves and warm sweaters. But I still wasn’t prepared for how cold it was even inside the buildings. We had a fireplace, but it didn’t really help unless you were right in front of it. After a few days of suffering we said something to our host, and they gave us an electric space heater, which helped tone down the chill at night. We still wore our long Johns, big socks, and wool blankets at night, but the space heater made it much more bearable.

    ashley your 4 years of being a guest in South Africa doesn't constitute that you know the country very well. you spoke about infrastructure without realizing that all the Infrastructure you brag about where created by black led government. South Africa is one of the best country to visit during election era and its on record we are not barbaric. If you are not sure about the legitimacy of things do research before you spread unnecessary lies. WHAT DO YOU BENEFIT FROM ALL THIS?

    I haven't watched her video, but what I can pick up from the comments is not that good. She must be very careful on sensitive matters when it comes to South Africa affairs because South Africans won't let it slide and when they come for her on social media the pressure will be so much that she will want to leave. Can't she be like Dr Asad he always believes not to touch on issues that's sensitive to South Africans.

As a South African, we have gone through generations of struggle and we know resilience more than most other nations. Do you know the deeper, dark side of the word struggle ? I have just lost my father who went through struggles to create a life for his family. It’s a pity he isn’t around to share his story with you, he would have been most disheartened to see this video. Thank you for this feedback. Thank you to all of our SA family for showing your patriotism. As a BA I appreciate her perspective as she is in tune to what we BA’s need to know so we are not shocked just in case we experience it. And if we do not, all the better. She knows her people and she is doing SA a service by helping us prepare as best we can. The one BA that visits SA is going to report back to their black family, church, and social groups. By preparing us she is increasing the likelihood that we will not get distracted by things that are not a big deal compared to the beauty and positivity of the bigger picture that SA offers. That increases the likelihood that we will return and bring more people with us.

    Ashly, I have been a subscribed follower of your videos but this one I would like to take exception to. The heading is very negative and the reasoning you put forward in advancing that is actually false. Tourists accommodation have been designed to be pleasurable to different kinds of foreign visitors throughout the year and there is no exception in winter. Oh yes, we do have problems, others prefer to call them challenges, like loadshedding but there are measures in place put by tourist accommodation service providers to mitigate the effects of the loadshedding, winter or not. With regard to our elections, please talk to your friends, who are South African natives and they will tell how our elections have been peaceful (except with some very isolated cases of provocateurs) through out the years and not some African friend who knows zilch about our dynamic political scene (She/he might making reference to her/his own country and definitely not South Africa) That is false. There has never been any elections themselves or election processes in our country, which have been cancelled or disputed because of violence; pre-election, during and post-election period. I suggest that you request some of your South African friends to drive you around that day to see for yourself and experience what voting is like in the country.

    When you speak truth, it's not always good. She's not bad mouthing the country (as you stated). She's just stating facts. There's no perfect place anywhere in the world. It's always best to know the good, the bad, and the ugly of wherever you are. This way, you're not going into something blindly.

    This just goes to show you that, no matter where you want to live, if you’re still dependent on the Industrial Electrical Grid (including water and sewage), you’re moving to a place that will collapse within our lifetime. It doesn’t matter where you wish to retreat to, collapse is coming for you unless you live off the grid. Africa, China, the West - all industrial grids will collapse due to environmental overshoot.

    There must be an alternative power provider from the private sector but Eskom must not be privatized. The majority of the citizens will simply not be able to afford it. Much like how only 14% of the country can afford private health care and a small percentage can afford private schools. If Eskom gets privatized the prices will skyrocket as the infrastructure needs to be fixed. A capitalist will simply raise the prices and disconnect whoever is not paying. The middle class will suffer greatly. The working class will simply be living in the dark. This is the majority of the country. So I'm not against the private sector providing an alternative. But that needs to be an alternative for those who can afford it and find Eskom to be unreliable.

    Hi Ashley , I like your energy . Thanks for your honesty in expressing your concerns . I wish you had migrated here 30 years ago when everything worked and was safe and clean . It's estimated that over 15 million migrants have crossed into SA since apartheid ended . That huge influx has over burdened the country, besided the total lack of proper maintenance . It's unfortunate that self enrichment has been the no.1 priority of the new govt . PS. I think everyone must take responsibility for their own corruption , it's a bit disingenuous to blame the west .

    Kindly tell us when if ever there was any civil unrest in South Africa on election day?...in 1994,only Boers killed South Africans,not the other way round,when Thabo Mbeki replaced Nelson Mandela,it was peaceful,when Mbeki was repliced prematurely by Mohlante it was peaceful,same thing with Jacob Zuma and now our current president. I don't understand this thing of warning tourists not to come to SA because of elections,this woman is trying to paint out country as violence and we don't like that.

    Who are sotsi..... I don't understand how young men roam around as if they're licensed to commit crime. Here in Kenya even before the police come for you who will execute without remorse the community will lynch u. However SA is a great country and my advice is, there's no shortcut to richness, just be smart n work smart.
