Great video. Thanks for sharing. You got a new subscriber :) I still have and use my Sony A7III. I would say around 95% photos and only 5% video. I actually purchased it for both video and photo equally five years ago. But am I the only one who finds it a hassle to use A7III or a mirrorless camera in general for switching between video and photo? For video you have to use an external microphone as build is sucks, which makes it more bulky. And very often outdoors you need a variable ND filter to unless you can except using higher f-stops. But then you switch to photo you would like to remove the ND filter. I feel like you either have to choose between one or the other before going out. And for making it easier I just primarily takes pictures, which the A7III is really great at. Editing images is also faster than editing videos, which also one more part why I ended up taking way more pictures than videos. How do you deal with that?

Excellent video in every respect. Nobody is commenting on the size of view finders. If you wear glasses the A cameras take a lot longer to get used to if at all. I have opted for the A7 III because I can actually see to compose. Big help!

You can buy an A7III used for $1350. If you buy them new, they are between $1700-1900 right now

I started with a Nikon 5300 a few years ago. Really enjoyed that camera.

I currently have a fuji xt2 but found a good price for the a7 iii with two lenses and I‘m not sure if it is worth to switch. What would be your opinion?

Ive owned a A7iii for a few years now and feel like the user experience of the camera is outdated.. The screen resolution the flippy screen. and I mostly reach for my iPhone 13 Pro for hikes, travels. Would you say the UX of the camera alone is worth the swap from full frame to a6700?

The only problem with going for the A6700 or AC bodies is that they do not have dual card slots. Although I have no cards fail, it is still a good safe space to work in when you are doing event photography. For this reason, I think the A7 III can be better than the more advanced option that you recommend.

Still using my Sony a7 iii in 2024! It's a great camera...just used it to shoot a wedding in Mexico. It does it all and lets be honest. It takes a while to build a work-flow and to dial in all your camera settings. It's surprising to me how many people rush out and buy the latest-and-greatest when it's often better to be nimble and quick and 1st know hot to get the most out of what you already have before going out and starting over with something new. Just my .02 on the matter...but I think it's still a very reliable and creative camera in 2024.

Briefly had an a7c but quickly sold it due to the poor EVF. Removing the normal size EVF and replacing it with a tiny view finder is primary way they were able to shrink it. I'd stick with the a7III or a7IV.

Hey thomas, great video, actually i was going to buy my first camera, i am going to do both video and photo,but yes videos are my priority, which one do you think i should go with? a7c, a7iii or a6700? i am getting all three at almost same price.

I have A73 and A7c both, for 5+ years. Since video is your priority, i would say, get the A7c because of flip out screen. On a gimbal , this flip screen is a savior , as you don't need additional monitor. Also, it's lighter , perfect for long trips and Gimbal. Compared to a6700, A7c is better for lowlight, as it's full frame. Hope this helps !!

I wanted to get an A6700, but they cost 1600€ for the body only, add 500 to 700 for a 18-50 or 17-70 and it's quite a lot more than an A7 III and a 28-75 from Tamron! I got a second hand A7 III with 9000 shutter count for just under 1200€, and it came with a Godox flash and a second battery too. Dropped another 650€ for a brand new 28-75 G2 which was also a steal! Still, if the A6700 was cheaper I would have got it without thinking, much newer, portable and cheaper lenses while still achieving extremely good sharpness. By the way, the quality on your videos is amazing, wish you the best!

I love the A7iii. Use it a lot at my studio job. I personally run a Lumix G85 as an A and the A7ii as a B when filming, but i experiment with the A7iii a lot for photography. It's a great camera. I don't know much about the 6700 but I do know a lot of people that went up to the A7iiii and skipped over its former. Always produces really great content with a longer lens (at least, with my style lol). The A7iii is great for producing cinematic work

Can you make a video or suggest a video to color grade HLG 3 and the settings to use. My footage looks over saturated and I don’t know what to do to make them look better

Night & Day upgrade. Years ago I migrated from the D3100 to D5100 to D7000 to D7100, D600 & D750 before selling off Nikon gear in early 2018 and began shooting with an a7III. Better than the D750 in every way. Now shoot with a7IV and a7III. You'll find the a7III is as good as any current camara for photography.

Could you use this camera for filming a KZread video / course filming video and get something nice out of it?

Of course! 30fps in 4k or 1080p at up to 120fps. That said, video isn't it's primary purpose but it will handle most video work for most people

Hi Thomas, I found a deal on the used market with the Sony a7iii, sony 55mm f1.8, sony 24-105mm f4 and a battery grip all for €999... I would mainly use it for video and filmmaking (the style of Gawx & vuhlandes) What do you think?

Go for it! That’s an amazing deal!!! The 55 f1.8 is one of my all time favorite lenses. And the 24-105 is super versatile. I’d say even if you’re not happy with the a7iii, go for it and then sell the body but keep the lenses. You could get $1000 for the body back to put towards another option if you change your mind

I will never switch from full frame to crop for at least one reason. And this reason is my favorite lens Sony 14mm GM! ;)

Bought the A7III in December my first full frame camera and honestly I’d definitely recommend to getting this camera in 2024, but ONLY when it’s on discount, got mines for $1.4k at B&H with the 85mm 1.8 and honestly it’s still a beast of a camera

If it’s the camera you’re wanting, you have lenses or the budget for a lens or two, then yeah it’ll be great! Some people really don’t like the zve10 or a7c size, if you think it would serve you well, and you can afford it then yeah!

What would you suggest as a workaround for the only single sd card slot on the a6700 or a7c?

A couple options, I’d definitely say that if you’re filming something important, make sure you get very high quality/reliable sd cards to minimize risk (I’ve personally never had an sd card fail, but i also haven’t ever bought cheap ones) You could go with a ninja V recorder/monitor and record on it and the camera. Or if you wanna save some money, accsoon make something called the “seemo”. It’s a mount for an iPhone that turns your iPhone into a recorder. @@bronzepodcast I personally am a fan of the a6700, you get 10bit color, way more features, cheaper lenses (without losing any quality) and the only difference is the size of the sensor. which I would happily trade off for the savings on lenses and features. But I understand that Full Frame is "In" these days, and the A7C is a great camera!

They’re both great, depends what you need. If you use a view finder a lot, or if you like having more custom buttons, probably the a7iii. But if you prefer saving the space and having a smaller camera, or if you prefer a flip out screen, go a7c

I'm about to buy the a6700, but some part of me is debating if buying the a7iii

i want a C camera and i m torn between the a6700 and the a7c... my main issue is that i got only full frame lenses .... the price is almost the same on both atm to be honest i dont know if the a6700 will be close to my 2 a7vi's

Neither are bad options. The features/frame rates/codecs in the a6700 will pair better with the a7iv, just with a apsc sensor. The a7c will have the same field of view. But thankfully your full frame lenses will work on both! The only other thing is I’d imagine the color science in the a6700 will be more similar to the a7iv than the a7c. They’ve updated it quite a lot over the last couple years

Amazing. I used to shoot around 1000 photos and there was still juice.

I bought a7iii 3 months ago. Being a fashion photographer. I am really disappointed by the colour science of a7iii. Sometimes it doesnt produce the actual colour even after managing white balance. And it really messes up the shoot and make me look like a noob in front of my client. Am planing to shift to canon R8 or nikon Z6ii

Watching this video as you say at the end you would love to reach 4k and your almost at 5k! Awesome. Someone is selling me a almost new a7iii with a 28-70 zoom lens. Excited to get away from Nikon

You cant, i dunno why he was saying $1300 new. I have this camera its great and yeah cost basically the same as what it did when i bought it new in 2018. It doesnt shoot 4k 60 but does 4k30 or 1080 60 and 120. For photos its great. And for most video its great. Sometime having that latest and greatest doest make you a better filmmaker. There will always be something new out. So im working with what i have.

For professional purposes the a6700 won’t cut it without dual card slots.

There’s so much more to a camera than the size of the sensor. I really don’t believe sensor size is anywhere near as important as features like 10 bit, dynamic range, sensor read out speeds, frame rates, lowlight, autofocus performance, form factor, screen style (fully articulating vs static), color science, log performance, codecs etc. APSC is great, take the fx30 as an example, I’d choose that over an a7iii any day of the week for video, heck there’s micro four thirds cameras that produce better images than some full frame cameras

There is a slightly different look of course! I agree. I don’t think one is better or worse. But different, and most people watching something aren’t thinking “oooooh that’s full frame for sure”. It’s one part of many important aspects of capturing an image. Of course full frame cameras are good, that doesn’t mean apsc is therefore bad, just different. The idea that the only feature that matters is sensor size is pretty silly in my opinion, you gotta weigh up all aspects of the camera and ask if it’s worth it based off all areas, not just sensor size
