Should You Buy A Car Without A Title?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

www.CarRegistrationCity.com | Buying a car without a title can generate many problems when it comes time to register your vehicle. Many people don't have titles when selling their vehicle because they have lien on the vehicle. Most of the time, the lien is active meaning money is owed. The only way to remove the lien is to contact the lien holder, which is usually a financial institution. The majority of these companies will only work with the registered owner who originated the loan. If your considering buying a car from a private party, make sure they have a title. If they do not have a title, then you need to confirm there are no liens recorded. For more information, Call Us Today @ 909 -810-2005.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't buy a car without a title off emotions, I brought it strickly off of TRUST because I knew the people for decades. But I learned no matter how long you known someone, they can scam you and turn on you at any given time. My plan is to salvage the vehicle if they don't get the title corrected and purchase another one in the summer time. And if this is the case, I'll never speak to these people again or do business with them.

My understanding is the DMV will notify the legal owner to the car give them a time limit if no response for the car then the person trying to register it can move forward with generating paperwork. By the way I did this with a 74 Volkswagen beetle that had no pink slip.

I bought a 1975 truck at an estate auction, well after a couple years of acquiring parts, I bring in shop to Start on it, when it came time to work on interior, I noticed the vin on cab was missing, so I checked title, and found vin on the frame, but they don't match, and the vin on frame is the only vin I can find. I contacted the auction company, and they basically said it's my problem, even though they advertised every car with title was verified. Only thing that title matched was registration paperwork in glove box.

I was in the process of buying a classic car without a title but the seller had lien sale paperwork. After seeing this video, I immediately went to their location to get more information. They are masters of their craft. They know what they're doing. They saved me time, headache, and a lot of money making this transaction. I received my new pink slip in the mail a week later. Much better than the dmv and AAA. Would go to again, they are a great resource!

Every vehicle purchase must follow a chain of ownership. The chain starts with the owner of vehicle to the current buyer. You will need to have a bill of sale from the owner to the person your buying from and from your seller to you. We can assist you with the transfer by checking the record to determine if the records match the bill of sale and if there is a lien indicated on DMV records.

I’m about to buy a camper but the people have a lien. They owe way too much than the thing is worth and told the financier that they can’t pay or don’t want it and to pick it up. The lien holder literally told them that they could keep the camper but wouldn’t give them a title for it. I’m trading a guitar for it. How can I get a title for this thing? Without paying the lien off. A payment has not been made for over 4 years.

@@geraldgaddy367 In 2005 I had purchased a 1989 Chrysler Conquest SHP with all the bells and whistles. I mean I struck gold with this car it was simply amazing and very well maintained by the original owner. I go and test drive the car fall in love with it and decide to purchase the vehicle. We agree on a price and he hands over the title signs it and all is well with a bill of sale, okay perfect transaction. I was in my mid-twenties and I was so excited that I didn't notice there was a bank on the title. I go to the DMV to register the vehicle after purchasing insurance and the DMV tells me there's a lien on the car. I told her the car was from 1989 so I doubt they would be a lien on the vehicle for so long and she pointed out the bank name stating that the bank owns the car. I immediately contacted the seller which was a very stand-up gentleman and told me that he would contact the bank and get the situation straight out even calling Albany to get an updated title. Now this gentleman had various cars and worked for Con Edison as some sort of a district manager so it was very hard for him to have time to get the title. in the end it took four months before I received the title in my name and was able to register the car. thank God he was a gentleman and was able to assist me in my situation but I'm sure there's many that have fallen for the no title trick.

However he hasn’t made a payment on the thing in over four years. It has sat at his dads farm ever since. It’s probably a little easier with classic cars (pre-1980) since they aren’t practical so it’s not like you have some guy with bad credit who owes money on it. The original owner is probably dead. It’s a classic so it’s easier to register it for recreational purposes. Easier to swap out the vin plate. Plus if you’re buying a classic presumably you have enough money to jump through legal hoops. Did you end up getting a classic?

I would never suggest buying any vehicle until you can confirm that it can be registered in the US and the state in which you want it titled in.

Send a certified letter to the person on the back of the title asking for their release. You'll have to wait 30 days for them to respond. DMV may also require a motor vehicle bond if the value is more $5,000 and above. Even if they don't respond, DMV may still accept the notice. We do offer this service for a fee. ChocolateKushOG Yes. This is the exception to the no title, no buy rule. The lien sale is a processed where the title is not present. It usually occurs when a car is towed or abandoned on private property. Notifications are made to all parties on DMV record and are given 30 days to challenge the sale. Upon completion, and the sale is not contested, a title can be issued to the new buyer.

Hello. I bought a truck with a title but the owner wrote her name on both lines seller and buyer. I went to the DMV to try to register it but they said the title is no longer good. The DMV gave me a registration form, bill of sale to take to the prier owner but she no longer live in the same house. What can I do to register the truck?

I have an important question. How can I register a car that I bought from someone who still had the pink slip from the person that they bought it from?? Only ONE line was signed from that pink slip. Everything else was blank. The odometer information wasn't filled out by the owner before the one I bought it from. Right now, I'm struggling on what I can do be able to register it. What can I do?? =(

Some of the smaller dealerships sell fewer cars a month than some of the big names. As a result, they will wait until they have a couple deals before they take them over to the DMV. I would suggest visiting him or writing a certified letter demanding the plates. You also have the right to register it yourself. This is known as "Buyer Demands Title". Make sure you get the Report of Sale or a copy of it. This is the document a dealer uses to report the sale to the DMV and show they have collected taxes. Also, you should have been issued temporary licnese plates which are valid for 90 days.

You have two options: 1) You will need to follow the chain of ownership. Get a bill of sale from the original owner sign over to the person who sold you the vehicle. Then a bill of sale from your seller over to you. 2) If DMV provided you with the current owner information, you would need to send them a certified letter aksing them to release their interest. You have to give them 30 days to respond. If they don't respond, then proof of mailing and a motor vehicle bond is required.

  • @Allinonevrs

+Angus Macaleese Don't! Buying a car with a lien on it means the lien company owns the car. By law, the owner can not transfer the car without the lien company releasing their interests. DMV will not allow you to register your car until lien has been released. Don't! Don't! Don't buy it.

You can sell it but you have to get the banks estimate of the value for it and one they meet the party who is buying they will sign a form agreeing to release the title upon purchasing.

If you truly want to purchase this vehicle, I would suggest obtaining your own financing and have your finance company buy out his loan. This way when you pay off the loan, you'll receive the title. Otherwise, how do you know he's applying your money towards his loan and not for other financial matters.

brandon hernandez No, not really. They’re just people who didn’t want to register and pay for it, pay insurance, and add another owner to the vehicle’s history. I’ve bought cars like that, who were just passing it on to me without them ever being involved in the sale (legally) and nothing happened. Though, remember that there are always terrible and can fuck you up real bad. So, watch out.

Every car that has a title, or is titled, is owned by the state. If you buy a car and do get a title, guess what, the state listed on that title, owns your car. They can take it any time they wish. Most times they give a reason when they do take it, but they do not have to give any reason at all. So if you want to pay someone to use a vehicle that you can never own, get a car with a title. If you want that title to reflect you as the true owner, good luck with that, I have tried. You would have to get the name of the state off that title. There are ways to make or build your own car and bypass the state, but they don't take to kindly to it. There is no law that says you have to travel in a state owned machine.
