Impressed with single pass cut quality while mulching on that long grass... from what I could see it didnt leave too many visible clippings on the surface either. Thanks for showing us where the limits of the machine are. Too many reviews cutting grass that doesnt need cutting.

Very useful video! Great to see how it behaves in that long grass in the backyard. That's exactly what you want to know, and nobody else ever seems to test that! Many thanks, and greetings from New Zealand.

@@WesternEquipment - I bought one today and it works great! My grass was super long, because I didn't have a mower for 2 weeks and it's perfect growing weather here. The 460 V made a quick job out of it!
I was always a Honda guy but got tired of the noise and always having to have a can of gas so i traded it in for this Stihl electric Mower ( non propelled) and i absolutely love it. I can cut the front and back yards on a single charge with 1-2 bars left on the battery. I leave it on the eco setting and when it senses a heavy load it kicks into high gear!
Great video Brent! Awesome mower! Thanks for sharing! Have a great and awesome day!

Thanks Vincent! Good to hear from you!
This was a great and useful review. I have a Toro Timemaster (30 inch) that does well on my 8000 square foot lawn, but I’m considering a battery mower to mow my front portion of the lawn early in the morning. My Toro wakes up my neighbors, so this Stihl Mower will give me an “early mowing” option to knock out the front lawn, and save my Toro for the rear lawn in the late afternoon/evening.

Go with the 21" for the bigger job as to have more battery run time.
I'm from South Africa, ordered a rma 510 in December 2022, recieved it last week. All I can say is that it was worth the wait and that it's worth every penny.

Thank you and I'm glad I could help with your decision.
I see a lot of people mentioning the Stihl RMA 510 and the bigger AP battery. It’s true that it should last longer, but after looking at the Stihl lineup and what I would buy other than just the mower (like a trimmer or blower), I appreciate the smaller/lighter AK battery. If all you’re ever going to buy is just the mower, then yes, the 510 with AP battery probably makes sense.

I personally use this mower at my house and I love how light it is. I agree on the AK lineup as well. I love that Stihl makes such a variety of battery equipment to fit all types of users. Do you have any of their units?

Thanks for this video. I wouldn't expect any mower to work too well when mulching grass that's this long. I bet it would have lasted longer if you were bagging or discharging out the side. This was helpful.

Yes, I agree. That is why I chose to mulch so I could really put it to the test. Thanks for watching!
I love mine.just a note when charging the battery, leave it on until the charger light goes off .
Good video and a good review. I cut average 13 properties a day. This just wouldn't cut it. Its just not enough power and doesn't last long enough. But for a home owner. This is great. Just go grab it and start cutting. Mulching is the way to go.

No doubt this isn’t commercial. For the smaller yard it’s impressive. These battery machines have come a long way. Wouldn’t surprise me to see a commercial model down the road.

Have you seen the AR3000 backpack battery? I want to hook it on a mower and see how long it will last. I’m about o put out a video on it today with the BGA 200 blower. 536 minutes of runtime with it!
@amosk2416

Understand your point however the bigger 21 inch Stihl 510V mower with AP300S battery will keep you going longer than the AK30 battery shown. AP300S batteries will pay themselves off in fuel savings at least once in the long 1,500 cycle lifetime. Amp Hours per $$ and per weight the 300s battery is more value than any other battery in their range. Think of it as pre-paying all your fuel a few years in advance. You can also have 2 charging while the other 2 are in the machine if your client is OK with that - sell it as environmentally friendly. They charge fully in 45 min on the fast charger.
Very nice and healthy lawn

I agree but i wanted to really put this mower to the test so that is why I went ahead and mulched. Thanks for watching!
To be more fair to the Stihl mower ... you're only suppose to try to mulch two inches off the top, you were in four to six in grass in the back yard. I believe if the side chute had been used in the back yard you'd finished easily. I've sold an serviced power equipment for close to 50 years. Stihl is one of the brands we sold, so do the yard again with the side chute in the back yard. You've got a winner in the 19" mower.

I used to work for a nursery. My job? Lawn maintenance. I can say this, maintenance on gas anything is spendy. Any time I had to take the equipment in, anything from pull cords, carbs, fuel lines, meant down time. Heck, 6 batteries, 8... could mow commercially all day long. But for my yard, 2 batteries is more than enough. I don't have to worry about fuel that's gone bad over the winter, messing up my equipment. Always starts... no worries. Love my Stihl battery mower😁
Nope, struggled in mildly longer grass. Battery power just isn’t there for this type of work yet. Good review though.

Will it climb inclines/hills? Can it handle a dirty dusty yard/not a pristine style lawn?
@WesternEquipment

I will say it is not the most powerful when climbing hills but it will help and yes it can handle multiple kinds of terrain. Thanks for watching!
I had the chance to use this mower. Family member got it and have mowered her lawn a few times. The battery life is terrible! Sometimes only last 10mins in thick grass and also the motor struggled with damp grass. Battery also over heats so it won't charge right away (30min wait) and then take a good two hours+ to charge up!. Go with ego or greenworks(mine) if you want better battery tech and faster charging between uses.

@@WesternEquipment actually been using an older 80V greenworks one(works great and doesn't bog down in thick grass). But I have slowly been making a switch to ego stuff(blower and snowblower so far)
To this day i never heard of this brand, granted i mainly get mowers from lowes or home depot. All these brands im hearing, hard to figure which brand i want to get. Thinking switch over and people recommending the popular brands and brands like this i never heard of.
