Thanks for a solid review on this laptop! I've owned 2016, 2017, and 2018 MacBook Pros of both the 13 and 15 inch sizes, and the 2018 is the oldest 13" that I would still recommend - the upgrade to the quad core processor in 2018 was huge to this computer still being useable and relevant in this day and age. I hope you enjoy the Touch Bar and this machine for a bit longer, you got a beautiful example!

My sister has been using one of these since 2018. Some of the paint on the keys has been rubbed away after doing an entire doctorate course with the machine, but the keys are all still responsive and the machine is still going strong. I wouldn't mind using it, but probably wouldn't spend money on it.

I bought a 2015 4K iMac last year and that thing would probably fall into the same category for "dust gate" because when I received it, it had a purple hue on the top left and bottom left corner of the display. I knew it was common but I figured since it was in ver good condition I toke a chance. Now I own a 2017 and it doesn't't have this issue and I am running OpenCore Legacy Patcher for macOS Sonoma and it's great. But, yeah I think any Mac from 2015 and newer would have flaws like this because of the displays Apple uses. Anyways, great video. Keep up the great work!

One question, I found a very similar one at a good price but it has a lot of superficial damage and has a dent in the right corner of the screen chassis, however the seller claims that there is no internal damage and it works well and the screen looks good. It's worth it?

4:02 common, it can't be an original battery. It must be a replacement battery. Or maybe the computer was always used on AC which is also not good for battery.

I’ve had 2019 MBP with 1.4 GHZ. I would really recommend skipping Intel in 2024. Go for base M1 instead. It will last much much longer and it is so much better. Only drawback is support for one monitor.

sorry but can't reliable use battery cycle time for determining usage. Give you an example, I have a 2019 Macbook Air with 90 cycles. The plot twist is that I replaced the battery (at the Appel store, but still) when it was about 80% health and about 250 cycles.

p.s. other laptops you find on the marketplace probably have replaced third party batteries, so who knows how much the devices were actually used.

I believe that this 2018 13" MacBook Pro will receive the next and last macOS upgrade for Intel Mac’s. The 2019 13” MacBook Pro is the same computer, also intel coffee lake and same modelnummer. 2018 and higher will receive the last macOS upgrade. It’s also possible that Sonoma wil be the last intel version!

  • @GoJot

Yes I think you’re right. Even the 2020 MacBook Pro (1.4GHz) uses 8th gen CPU. Will be interesting to see if that models gets updates longer for some reason

  • @inputerase

It’s easier and cheaper for Apple to support all Mac’s that can run Sonoma. Because they can easily fade out intel completely in 3 years (macOS 15 and 2 years security update for one macOS version) Coffee lake will support the last macOS Intel version. By the way the last Intel 2018 MacMini was sold till 2023, also Coffee lake. Also important.., Intel will support Coffee Lake till 2026.
