Should Women be Pastors? | CONTROVERSIAL!!

Please watch: "The ONE Thing Every Christian Should Be Doing But Most Are NOT!"
• The ONE Thing Every Ch... -~-
Should women be pastors? More specifically, should women serve as senior pastors of a church? Does the Bible support female preachers or should they "keep silent" in church? This is THE most hotly debated topic within Christianity today. Here is MY view on the subject. Please follow the guidelines presented in this video if you desire to leave a comment or disagree. I ALWAYS welcome HEALTHY discussion on controversial issues such as this one. Enjoy and let me know your thoughts on the question should women be pastors. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

THE BEAT by Allen Parr Thank you!!! As a woman who has recently announced being called into the ministry of preaching, I have greatly wrestled with this. My upbringing is such that women preachers were not allowed at all. However, I knew that the Holy Spirit had guided me into this calling. It 100% was not a calling that I was thinking of doing on my own. No, I am not to be a pastor, at all. A minister? Yes! Thank you for the sound scripture references. God bless you and yours.

THE BEAT by Allen Parr I struggled with this because my grandmother Pastored after my grandfather passed... but when my uncle/ her son "came on over to the Lord's side", she passed it to him and has not interfered with how he has and is currently pastoring. However, according to scripture, I do agree wth this entire video.

THE BEAT by Allen Parr hey man great videos they have really helped me out. Just a question though I’m confused on your definition of logic bc I thought logic wasn’t based on feelings rather it is based on facts and evidence or at least should be when used correctly. Anyways a repose would be great.

I have learned that most of the time even when I think I’m not going to like God’s ways, I end up finding joy in the way he created things to be. I can rest in the fact that his ways are perfect, even if they may not seem to be to us at first.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[c]

@@biblicalbee2082 I like what you said at the end about being brave by submitting to the word. The hard thing in the matter is a lot of women have trouble following the word of God and submitting themselves unto their own husbands as unto the Lord. And what that means as unto the Lord, is as long as their husbands are in line with the word of God and leaving her correctly according to the will of God then she can follow up under her husband's leadership which God ordained him to be the man of the home from the beginning of time. And husbands need to love their wives enough to die for them, just like how Christ loved the church enough to DIE for them, and gave HIMSELF for us. Ephesians 5:23 25

Thank you for addressing this topic!! I am a woman, and I am a Church of Christ Christian yesterday a friend of mine and myself we had this discussion she became upset with me I shared with her that I do not find, nor have I read anywhere in the Bible where a woman pastured the church. God has set a standard of order and an example with Adam and Eve the man Adam came/was first with or before Eve arrived that is the order and standard that we are under. not to say that a woman cannot teach she is to teach biblically to save the soul and bring to salvation that soul. like Priscilla and Aquilla but not to Shepard Gods people. if we even look at the examples of Shepards in the bible they are men that Shepard a flock or herd of people the congregation. that's the example that we have it not a position where the example or roles changes if it where God would have had it written in the Bible to tell us or show us. he has vision and fore sight. and his vision did not and has not changed we like to make things comfortable for us. even though a woman may have the gift of spreading the word she is not the Pastor of the flock of God. if she is and or was God would have told us so or had given us examples. men where sent out to lead and grow the church in the new testament

The Judge was the primary pastor/shepherd of God's people during this time period. Full essay read time: 12 minutes free postable here (In case the reader in unaware, the word pastor and the word shepherd are the same word. I prefer shepherd, because it has obvious meaning to the average person.) Major modern English translations like the NASB use the phrasing ...whom I commanded to shepherd My people... In all places where I have walked with all Israel, have I spoken a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ -excerpt 1 Chronicles 17 verse 6 NASB translation Some believe that pastor (or shepherd), is a position that was created in the New Covenant. This is not true. In the Old Testament shepherds are mentioned multiple times. Often in a negative way. “My people have become lost sheep; Their shepherds have led them astray. -excerpt Jeremiah 50 For an entire chapter on worthless shepherds, the reader may check out Ezekiel 34. When the shepherd over Israel died, the people went back into sin. That is because the Judge was the most important spiritual leader of this time period. But it came about, when the judge died, that they would turn back and act more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them and bow down to them; they did not abandon their practices or their obstinate ways. -excerpt Judges 2 Deborah, full essay read time: 12 minutes, free, postable

The bible distinctly says that a woman isn't supposed to have authority over a man. In Revelations, it says not to add on or take away from the word. @@celticmist14 Whether he did or did not is not a reason to cite for why women today cannot be leaders/pastors. Christ was a JEW, followed JUDAISM to a TEE going so far to wait until 30 years before he began his ministry. He did not marry but I don't see anyone using that as reason why a man should not marry today for obvious reasons. The problem today is that MANY MANY people like Mr. Parr and others here have taken Paul's instructions to the church in HIS TIME and made them LAW for our time. In the process they have done a great disservice to the body of Christ and have removed the HOLY SPIRIT as the TEACHER for us today whose job is to LEAD US INTO ALL TRUTH. Clearly there was STILL MORE TRUTH to be revealed after Christ left and I could assure you, there is still MORE TRUTH to be revealed today. See my comment above for more insight on this topic.

saint of jesus Christ I disagree. Some people think they have to say that. There’s a difference. Bcuz people say that men have to be the head all day long but what we actually see happening in life is the opposite. Women are the head and doing everything. While men are doing nothing but chasing their egos, trying to look like strong capable men. So if the man is the head, is only bcuz a woman is casting that illusion, and even then, he is still not the head, bcuz his wife or gf is doing it all. His mother or daughter is doing it all. Women somewhere are doing it all and he is really doing nothing.

Please PRAY about it, if God has given you the gifts of ministry you may be being called by the Holy Spirit to be a pastor. PRAY boldy and use discernment there are plenty of cases in which women have churches as Jesus has disciples. We take the gospels as word of God however the context of the time is that women were not educated equally and therefore the women did not write as men did. However women had churches, were deacons. and scripture even points to how women and men have to have a different role in church because of roman law: 1 Cor 34: 'Women[a] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.' notice how it is not his Law(mosaic or God'd Law which is capitalized and the government or roman law is not.) I also want to mention some senior pastors who had their own church, Aquila and Prisca.

My sister, if God has called you to Pastor you are a pastor whether you want to or not. If you don’t do it you’re being disobedient. Now with that being said, what would that look like for you? It means God has placed people in your life that he wants you to minister to. It doesn’t have to consist of a formal platform. When you open your mouth, that spot where you stand becomes the pulpit. It may be for a season and a reason God chose you to pastor/mentor those few. That’s what pastoring is. God bless

I was suicidal at that time I met her, 20 years ago, and now I have a husband and a family of my own. She started pastoring at 15 and now is 80. She has led many to Christ. That's amazing she led you to Christ and many others. That is a mandate by God regardless of gender. However the "office" of pastor is for men and men only. She would be to also teach you and others that she cannot hold the office of Pastor, but she can exercise her gifts of the spirit. Titus 1:5-9 and really close attention verse 16. Go back to the fall Genesis 3 and understand why God created order. This is not a man versus woman or men or better than women, this is a God in His holiness giving us roles and responsibilities in HIS kingdom. I hope your husband is saved and both of you are in the Word of God. I will be praying for you in your walk. (Please note this is said in a conversation tone, not argumentative.) Also, 1 Timothy 2:8-15 is helpful and gives clarity.

Allen, I enjoy your channel and you do a wonderful job at approaching different issues in the church. Thank you! This is a contentious subject that quite a few denominations struggle with and have capitulated to in this area. I’ve gone through Bible college at ACU and even at the university level there are those that believe it is ok for a woman to pastor. I know that you mentioned that it is your personal opinion and I’ve approached this from my personal opinion and the biblical text, in its context! Such as you do Allen. I’ve come to find that those that believe a woman can pastor say the same, it is “our”opinion that a woman can pastor and that your missing some of the history as to what the Apostle Paul was really saying about a woman’s role in the church. Unfortunately what has happened is feminism and progressive (ism) has taken a foot hold in quite a few denominations. The Apostle Paul takes it all the way back to the garden of Eden, Adam being formed first and then Eve being created from his rib and so on... It is very difficult to reach those that believe a woman can pastor even men that ordain or allow women to pastor, you cannot reason with them even with the Bible and it’s immediate context and the cannon of scripture as a whole. Anyhow great job Allen! Have a blessed day!

I can use that same garden of eden story. Man was created first. He was given the word first. He was suppose to protect first. Eve was created second. The serpent came to the younger one spiritually. Adam stood by and allowed his wife to be decieved, then when busted by God, he blamed both God and the woman. Thus the reason women were encouraged to learn the word of God deeply, and why when no man is willing to do God's work properly, God will use a Woman. Oh and God did not use a man to create His Son. Now once you all move past the SOT (sex organ theology), then some of the stupidity and apostasy many Male leaders have allowed to creep up in the garden, can start to be destroyed with the help of wise and learned women.

Actually, the position of senior pastor is not even scriptural. The bible states clearly that there are to be more than one elder leading the flock. ELDERS SHOULD SHEPHERD GOD’S FLOCK. (Acts 20:28; 1 Pet. 5:2.) The word “shepherd” is the same as “pastor.” The work of pastoring is shared by the elders. It is impossible for one man to adequately pastor a church this large. The ministry of pastoring involves doing what a shepherd does for his sheep: He knows them (John 10:14); he leads them (John 10:3-4); he feeds them and guides them into the rich pastures of God’s Word (John 10:9; 1 Thess. 5:12; Titus 1:9; Heb. 13:7); he guards them from wolves (John 10:12; Acts 20:29-30); he seeks the lost and straying sheep and helps heal their wounds by getting them restored to the Lord (John 10:16; Ezek. 34:4-5); he corrects the erring or rebellious (2 Tim. 4:2); he equips the flock for maturity so that they can serve the Lord as He has gifted them (Eph. 4:11-16).

From what I know (and in no way am I trying to say that I know a lot), some people look at their pastor/s, feel convicted, and think "I want to be a pastor!" Sometimes that's not God's plan for them (as in my case), and sometimes it is (like in the case of one of my uncles). (Btw sorry for any grammatical errors.)

Allen, I so enjoyed this message. So very biblically sound. I too have the same understanding of the scripture on this subject. Most recently the male senior pastor of my church passed away and his daughter succeeded him. Considering my understanding of the Word, my wife and I prayed agreed on our decision to move on to another church with a male as senior pastor. It was not an easy decision, but we believe it was proper as it relates to the scriptures. I so enjoy your messages. Keep up the good work - In Jesus Name.

I have skipped past this video for months because I, quite frankly, was scared of what I might hear. lol I attend an assembly and serve where the senior pastor is a woman (so are 90% of the elders). I've been there for 9 years and serve different auxiliaries, but have been on the fence lately about this topic. I, taking my information from God's word, also have come to the conclusion the role of the senior pastor, as God intended, is reserved for a man. Thank you for clarity. I agree with you. Our assembly is on the brink of merging with the assembly the pastor's husband pastors, and he will be assuming the role as senior pastor.

I have to agree with Random Person's comments. Women should support a man in the Leardership role and should not be positioned in a role of a Pastor. I am not talking levels here were you have Jnr pastors Youth Pastors Assistant Pastors and Senior Pastors. To me a Pastor is a Pastor. You are either called by God or appointed by men. The set up of your congregation my sister is in question. You have too much of women there is your Assembly occupying the role set apart for men. No hard feelings though, there is an increasing need to repent and search for God across all denominations these last days. We have messed up the act of true worship by violating scripture and trying to justify our fall through human wisdom.

Thank you for explaining this all so clearly, and for biblically backing it up. I always want to be certain not to offend God, so going to scripture for answers is a must. I also don't believe women should be senior pastors, or even pastors in a church, because the head of a woman is a man. The head of man is Christ and the head of Christ is God. So this is the order God has set things up, and we all must follow it. Thanks as well for clarifying that women are not banned from teaching God word at all, just in the way of pestering over a church and being lead, as that is for man only. Excellent teaching.

Thank you for speaking on this! Even as a young girl, I have been able to recognize the need for a man or boy in leadership. Last school year, I was accepted to be a leader in my school's Bible Study. Since only girls requested to be in the leadership, there were only girls. I feel like I should have asked to be the primary leader because the one who was the primary was very emotion-driven. She contradicted the Bible in the Bible Study sessions several times. The other girl and I probably only talked once about it. I regret never telling our sponsor or confronting her but it really opened my eyes to the need for a guy in leadership and I respect it a lot more now. Yet, my mom stated how God could use a woman if He wanted to and I don't doubt it. Like in the scenario of how no guys wanted to be in the Bible Study leadership, the girls had to step up.

My dear Victoria, don't be afraid nor shy to jump into leadership because you are a woman. That idea that only men should be leading is dying. Whereas the traditional family setting idolize the presence of men in the house as the leader, some (not all) men nowadays are just coward and irresponsible (that's a verifiable fact). We are living in a fatherless society and regardless the roots of the issue, we can't expect men to take the reign as they used to before. Just the fact that your parents are harder on you compared to your brother because you are a woman will make you a more responsible citizen. The fact that there are more women at church compared to men, I don't want a man to teach me about period or menopause, things that he will never experience. The Bible should be read with context and applied with a revelation of the Holy Spirit.

@@qwaxerty I share this in love hun- the same Holy Spirit wrote the scriptures so we must not encourage being divisive as it's God we'll have to account to in the end. If its areas where there are only women and she is led by God to share having knowledge of God's word then that's one thing....it just needs to be in respect of God's order which came before the law and is encouraged in the NT.. lack of this is the reason the home is divided- we women must encourage the men regardless of how much they may cower from their roles... pray for them, encourage them, build them up, love them while speaking the truth appropriately because in emotions we can powerfully tear them down and this truth is found at different times throughout scripture...Much love and God bless you

@@21anokha While making the man is the head of the family and the church is God's original plan, that plan is falling apart big-ly and I refuse to believe that God will let his people perish if Christian men don't man up. We are living in a society where even Christian men are irresponsible, abusive and entitled. I'd rather sin by attending a church led by a pious woman than a church led by a man who lust after his female congregants. Same thing in the household: all women don't want to be the boss, it's because some Christian men don't even read and know the Bible to teach their family anything. Being a supportive woman should not be carrying a man's load. Unfortunately, Christian men want to be free-riders, take advantage of women and use the Bible as advocate.

One issue I have is, when a man needs counsel, how can he go to a woman pastor? I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. A man would be better off talking to his wife, rather than to another woman, especially one who has not been called or qualified to be a pastor which no women is. There is a woman "pastor" at our church and I cringe every time she gets up before the congregation. Beside the fact that I Timothy 2 says it is not allowed for women to preach, I Corinthians 14:35 says it is disgraceful or shameful. Enough said.

It isn't that simple. I post on such matters. I have a postable short essay on Deborah (the Judge). I believe the gender matter was settled with her. God wanted to do that early on. Even before the people sinned and asked for a king, that is a man, to rule over them. So even before God was 'rejected', as the scriptures say: ...but they have rejected Me from being King over them. -excerpt 1 Samuel 8 Also a much shorter post called 'Complementarianism' can be pasted up if requested by anyone. It is certainly a false teaching.
