As a parent of two teenage daughters, I agree they should be banned from school (switched off), but in the dangerous world we live in I’d rather they have them on when they are on their way home so at least I know they’re safe.

Yes I think that would be a sensible idea. Why do phones have to be used during schooltime? Not neccessary.

Could we also ban them in cinemas and theatres, I'd very much appreciate it

We had the rule of leaving your phone in your locker, but I deliberately didn't follow it. I'm autistic and have ADHD, so it caused a lot of problems for me when I did try to follow that rule. I'd often forget it, and then realise on the train home, or go and get it and miss the train my close friend from another school caught because all the lockers were together in the far end of the school and it was a nightmare having to get to it. Fortunately I never forgot it on the days where both I was travelling alone and the trains were having issues. When I was having sensory issues, I'd listen to some music on my phone during break time, because it really helps. Being able to manage myself was difficult despite this easy solution, because a lot of the teachers just followed the rule regardless. Also since I have very little natural way of filtering out background noise when working, being able to listen to music was great for my my ability to focus. Some of my most productive lessons were with teachers who let me listen to music. Just have your phone on silent or fully off and never leave your pocket without a good reason would solve a lot of "distraction" issues. As for bullying, both cyber and real life needs more help.

That should'nt even be a question! Schools should get more tough on everything, from bullying to disrepectful students!

No don't agree. The state pension age will probably be 113 by the time this generation grow up. Jobs are already scarce, companies dont want to hire people & wages are insultingly low. There's no future for them, enjoy your phone because trust me there aint nothing out there.

Banning phones just leads to a lack of impulse control as adults. I work in a school and we often make use of mobile phones in lessons but only when the teacher explicitly allows their use. I think these guidelines are completely out of touch with modern society, just like everything else the Tories do.

The UK education system is dropping off the worlds education index it use to be number 1 for many years once, but it's 7 now, and within 10 years it will be not even be in the top 10 index but it still doesn't act like it has the 10 top education index, we honestly act like we are not even in the top 10 at all

Some people actually scroll through tiktok while doing work and I can’t even begin to explain how frightening that is for attention spans

Cant we ban religion instead? That would be more productive than banning phones Phones should not be allowed during lessons, and social media should be restricted to those over 16 years of age. However, id rather see a ban on religious studies, as that only brings division and conflict.
