However, according to Forbes, many tenants don't think they need renters insurance today. Many renters underestimate the value of their possessions or are under the misconception that their landlord is responsible for damages made.
Personal Property insurance covers this kind of valuables:

    a new form of renters insurance that 'wholly' covers the property owner: quite similar to government-mandated auto insurance, and also mandated from an auto financer, complete coverage from any and all damages and arrears rent, liability, and any and all cost associated with an eviction. This insurance can or will not be mandated by landlord based upon rental history and credit score. Needless to say, this would be as costly, or more, than auto insurance driving up rent costs for tenants. But with state government stacked against property owners, it very well may be the only 'fair and equitable' method to protect landlords from zealous lawmakers who merely see giving tenants more and more rights as their sure way to get elected. sadly 'most' tenants do 'not' understand that the more onerous government regulation is = higher rents...
