Should I let Carol jump into ice cold water ?

Should I let my wife jump into ice cold water ? Our mid Wales adventure continues with a visit to the secret blue lagoon at Abereiddy where people actually jump for fun into icy water that could kill them. We awake from an uncomfortable night experimenting sleeping the other way round with our heads towards the front of the van so watch and see why we won’t be trying that again!
We learn a very important thing to consider before pulling into a lay-by for lunch to avoid a huge fail at our breakfast stop. We show you the beautiful historic Welsh harbour of Porthgain and explore its history of slate, brick making and stone crushing. Watch to the end to see what to do if you meet another vehicle on a narrow road as we nearly get a white paint job.

That harbour with the old brickworks was absolutely gorgeous, and fascinating. I haven't seen it featured in any other videos. I loved how it has slowly been reclaimed by nature. Could easily have spent longer admiring it. I saw Liam doing the jump into the Blue Lagoon, and was really looking forward to watching Carol do it. Shameless clickbait! lol. Hi am new to your site live in New Zealand, you call it wild camp, here in New Zealand its called Freedom Camping, some places have some basic ammenties, however freedom campers seem to get bad rap, mainly due to the mess they sometimes leave behind. One spot not far from us is popular with surfers as it is on the mouth of a river. The locals usually complain that they cannot park to go dog walking along the beach close at hand as the parking is limited. There is another place very close to us but I would not park there due to boy racers and undesirables who frequent the place after dark, this spot is really nice but parking is limited. Anyway as someone commented your videos are very peaceful and i tend to watch you both before I put the light out. Anyway thanks for your beautiful reports, sadly as we work 7 days a week any of this camping is not on our list as yet, I have a M top Ford Transit that at some stage I will make into a camper, take care

  • @LifeistooshortCK

Wild camping is the most used over here but there are campaigns to change it to free camping. I see that as an attempt to stigmatise in the hope of reducing it. We don’t stay where we sleep because it’s free. We stay because it’s more fun than the petty bureaucracy you find on campsites. I used to work 7 days a week so I know what that is like. I hope you can break free of that burden at some point 👍

    1) Porthgain Harbour looks fascinating. Reminds me of Nyksund and Nykvåg in Vesterålen north Norway. You'll be visiting these places :-) 2) I must comment now on the photograph snap-shots you take : They are always very good and will make memories last. They are quite well done so thank you for sharing. 3) Those white spires would have to be visual aids to the entrance of the harbour. I noticed the coast has many rocky inlets and they all look the same and my educated guess is that the white markers make it easier for the boats to see the entrance in less than ideal weather conditions. Is that what they are ? 4) I must protest. Four quid to park in an abandoned quarry ? That's outrageous. How did the council decide in all honesty to tax people to park in what is a public space ? As a visitor, What do you get for your 4 quid ? They're just down there fleecing people. Or is it that they expect you to pay to watch people jump off a cliff ? I'm not paying 4 quid to be told how to Go Jump. 5) Pork chippolatas with mushroom, potato and beans in Norway is called "Skog Frokost" - Forest Breakfast. Enough energy to cut trees all day.....

Great videos guys, loved seeing those sites from your wonderful perspective. Wales tourist board should be paying you for this trip as its captured so well. We almost witnessed a fight between two drivers on that tight road on the way out...two drivers unwilling to cooperate, which led to a blocked road for half an hour. Thanks for the mention, it's a beautiful spot actually made better by people jumping off stuff, makes for great entertainment. Not sure if you know, but the highest point on the blue lagoon where Carol went walking is where the Red Bull guys jump off (and some to the deaths unfortunately)

Yes the latest variation is everywhere but to be honest I am done with worrying about it. We are jabbed but our politicians delight in telling us the jabs don’t protect us from catching it or passing it on and the answer is to get jabbed. They say it’s to protect our NHS but the vast majority of services available have been denied for the past two years. The best antidote is to turn off the news, opt out of the endless doom laden political announcements and enjoy what life we have left. 🙂👍

Funny, I was going to comment about the beautiful videography when you brought it up. Of course this is a gorgeous place to photograph, but the composition, the editing and what you choose to show is so lovely and captivating. And relaxing. Just found you two a couple weeks ago and enjoy your videos very much.

Lovely video again guys. We really want to visit Porthgain, never quite made it there in the summer. But we did make it to the Blue Lagoon though. Jumping off the top one to the right really got the heart pounding! There was a guided coasteering group there doing it at the time, that helped ease the nerves!

Should you “let” Carol jump into the ice cold water? Should you “LET” Carol? I didn’t realize that Carol had a very unstable cardiac condition that would preclude any consideration of entering into extreme temperatures. I was ‘almost’ engaged to be married to a gentleman who I had dated a couple of years and I thought we were quite compatible. One evening he began a sort of negotiation for a marital union between the two of us without bothering to ask ME if I had any interest in marriage. I hadn’t given it much thought but he was a “catch “ to my friends. I wasn’t quite sure as something was not quite right. He said that he would allow me to continue working after we married. Allow? ALLOW??!!? I figured out, rather quickly, what wasn’t quite right. I showed him the door, politely, but it was done. I seriously dodged a bullet, it turned out later. Allowed! Let!! Yeah, no. You are, quite likely, being silly. However, I can’t just let (LET?!?) that one pass without objection. Great video but I never figured out how you goofed picking that spot for breakfast. I thought you did a brilliant job! Had you not stopped when you did, your little red camper van could have been dented up and you and Carol injured. I don’t know exactly when the accident happened but YOU might have dodged a bullet that time. You and Carol, both, and I hope no one was injured.
