    Imagine he did KO or submit volkanovski just imagine the controversy after the amount of time ortega got to be picked up from the canvas, having the doctor an herb Dean asking him to follow his finger to asking him how many fingers he's holding up all that time is recovery time. I don't think he shoulda been out for the forth he didn't know where he was an it's alright saying ye he made a comeback in the 5th but that's 2 heavy beatings he's took first from Holloway an second from volkanovski, real heavy head trauma the kind that shows after the fight and later on down the road. He was out a long time after the holloway fight an he'll be out for a good stretch after this also, great fighter with massive balls hope all stays well for him 🙏

    Ortega reminds me of Rory Macdonald, always in war, getting multiple title fights, always a contender but never really good enough to win it all. If Max and Volkanovski retires then he has a chance. I see Bellator in the future of Bryan Ortega.

  • @The3Sp7
    @The3Sp72 жыл бұрын

    He took a lot of damage… but mostly it was exhaustion. Ortega has spoken of the faith he put in his new found team, I think they knew that he had more to give. And in turn he proved he did by winning a championship round against a man who is largely unbeaten in them.

  • @charlesgrigson6436

    He'd already fractured his face (orbital bones right eye socket) in the 3rd round so in the end it likely didn't make a whole lot of difference. He got a little more beat up and possibly concussed but we're splitting hairs at this point. After all, it was a title fight for all the marbles so i don't think anyone has any regrets. There certainly would be regrets on the Ortega side otherwise

    Would have saved him from taking another 100 strikes lol The same amount Volkanovski took over 5 rounds Ortega took in 2!!!! Infact he took the same amount of punches in round 3 as round 1 and 2 combined. Yeaaaaah he didnt have any more to prove after round 3 so it could have ended and it would have been better for him long term.

    @@Lockdown335 better for him long term u mean in terms of head trauma and cte and what not? Maybe, but there's really no way of knowing at this point in time. I've been concussed several times and do i have cte? Very likely so but it's just part of who i am. I'll tell u i do know it wouldn't have been better for him psychologically and emotionally...he woulda felt like a quitter and that can be very difficult to live with so it's hard to say in my opinion but I'm of the old school adage- what doesn't kill u makes u stronger and last i checked he didn't die from brain hemorrhaging or anything

    Ortega was done after the 3rd. The corner should not have picked him up when he couldn't get up. That was a KO/TKO. Ortega was given too much time to recover, and that was not fair for Volkanovski. Insane fight, though. Don't know how AV survived Ortega's submissions. Ortega is super quick, smooth, and tight with his submissions.

    Not sure if you recall but Ortega was in that fight entirely during and after the third round, anything is possible. Just look at Moraes vs Dvalishvilli, I'd say there were 3 times were that fight could have been stopped but the refs gave the fighter a chance to fight and he ended up coming out on top performing dominantly after his roughest moments.

He stops some fights and then let’s others take career changing or life threatening damage. See Weidman vs Rockhold for perfect example

    As much as I respect chaels opinion, I would like to hear (more, if any) mma comentators talk about what happened between rounds 3 and 4, with ortegas corner helping him back to the stool and what happened with the doctors/ref assessment of Ortegas cognitition in that moment. He was not responding to herbs questions coherently and looked completely out of it. Should the fight have been stopped? Albeit he did bounce back in the 4th and 5th and performed like a true fighter (all repect to ortega for overcoming that and giving one of the best fights in ufc history) I would like to hear more "respected" people in the mma community address it other than just volkanovski himself. Nobody is talking about it!
