Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia at the 2019 British Pipe Band Championships at Paisley
Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band competing in the Grade One competition at the 2019 RSPBA's British Pipe Band Championships held on 18 May in Paisley at the St James' Playing Fields.
This is the band's debut performance at a major championship with its new pipe major, Emmett Conway. The band's Lead Drummer is Andrew Lawson.
Great to hear the band playing what will be a new tune to many - The Stirlingshire Militia, a march written by the famous nineteenth century piper, Hugh Mackay who died in Stirling in 1864. I thinki this is the tune's first appearance on this channel.
Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia's MSR set was:
March: The Stirlingshire Militia [Hugh Mackay (1801 - 1864)]
Strathspey: Blair Drummond (traditional)
Reel: John Morrison of Assynt House ([Peter R. MacLeod (1878 - 1965)]

The strathspey and reel too! Well chosen tunes. Beautiful piping ❤
One of my top 5 favorite 2/4 marches!
Very nice performance. This band is going to rise again.
Drones are wild.
8th and 9th in piping? are you serious? a top 3 tone for sure and great to hear an msr expressed.
Lovely Lovely lovely. So relaxed yet tempos on the BUTTON. EM KEEP ER LIT
Love the control and tone this band has. Whats to thumbs down here?
I'm certain they were marked down for some rather careful tempos, but it's nice to not hear these tunes played at blazing fast speeds.
The BAND WAS HARSHLY MISPLACED. THE DRUMMERS ARE WAY BETTER THAN PEOPLE ARE MAKING OUT..
