Shotcrete 101
This is a example of a qualification panel showing a nozzleman placing wetmix shotcrete using the bench method. After creating the bench ( approx 45 degree angle) The idea is to place the next layers perpendicular to the previous placed materials minimizing skipping and rolling. Notice the Nozzle man changing the distance and the angles to maintain a good recieving surface. Material does not build up on the front of the bars but wraps around building up from behind. the deformations on the bars remain visible until they are encased.

The guy on the right is running a blow pipe(you could call it spraying compressed air). the purpose is: #1 to clear any accumulations of rebound #2 help keep the rebar clean in front of the Nozzle(overspray can build at times on the face of the reinforcing). Clearing rebound can be seen if you watch at the beginning of the placement. The nozzleman starts in the corner and bring his placement across the back corner, before he shoots the final bottom corner the blow pipe sweeps the corner clear.
He makes it look soo easy.
Nice work and easy work
Linus was right. This is cool af

I came from there too
This is a good example how the Shotcrete Nozzleman works as a team with the Air Lance operator - Note the Nozzleman is using different angles to fully encase the reinforcement - if you watch carefully you can see he is building the material from the form out with in-out motions - these motions are adjusting the velocity of the material being placed -
What equipment are you using?
What is the machine used?? How many m3 per hour??
god thats cool, spraying concrete out of a hose at high velocity. neat.
My professor showed us this video in class :D
Always wanted to know how this worked
The machine is a swing tube concrete pump just guessing but its probably not what your looking for.
what's the other guy spraying on it?
What stops it from just collapsing and running out.

A good hose man that knows exactly how much water to add, just like this guy
Anyone else just come from an LTT video to watch this?
Stop do you think it's easier to wrap reinforcement steel with wet mix, or dry mix?

I'm going to say that it is far more important the skill Nozzleman when it comes to wrapping steel than the method wet or dry but, in heavily reinforced sections of thick walls I would give the wet mix method the upper hand.

The man spraying the concrete is the nozzleman right? so what is the guy on the right doing? is he spraying compressed air? what's the function of the second guy?

Ammar Raz. He is the air lance operator. To remove rebound from shotcrete. Any loose gravel needs to be removed by blowing air. Air lance operator needs to be side by side with nozzleman
fast but how do you get the 5-15% air out? Im assuming you don't?
@marcusvonderhofen4809
Жыл бұрын
Air 5-15% I'm assuming you mean entrapped, doesn't happen backed up by the fact that compressive strengths typically are higher than the same mix cast in cylinders
Is there any concrete additive used for a job like this?

Hello, we are working on a research project in the field of sprayed concrete. Your video could help us to develop computer vision algorithms. If you are interested, we would be more than happy to tell you more about it. Would you be willing to get in touch and discuss whether and under what terms we could use your video? If so, what would be the best way to reach you?

Learn to spray wetter and you won't get ANY rebound, guy on the air lance can stay home.

WETTER is bad--i.e. *double downside* because cured result is both weaker (PSI strength) and greater shrinkage... and therefore CRACKING. =:O The rebound, though responsible for some wasted material, is probably important for void-free consolidation, especially on the backside of the rebars... air lance is there for a reason, eh, wot? ;')

That concrete looks different to what we use in Australia I must say we do spray pretty wet. Then again we get hour and half from batching to get rid of a 7m load I'd lose my job if I sprayed at that speed lol. I know it's a demo though nice work 👍
💀..Isn't this stuff also called "grout"..?
Way too much air pressure!

No mask!!! I do this as a construction miner for a living. This occurs over 2 km underground. Anyway not having a mask doing this job is idiotic. Technic is alright but not having a mask is stupid.
