He is the future of baseball. He's not big, and he's not particularly fast. But he's overwhelming. I think he's a player who will give dreams to kids who will play baseball in the future. I think he's worthy of praise.

To have imanaga save 6 wins is basically incredible. You cant win all the time but to have very few batters beat your throw is already proof why he is one of the SPs for Japan

He is performing better than he was here in Japan. Probably because MLB suits him much more than NPB. Due to comparably lower release point and high spin rate combo, rare lefty splitter thrower, uppercut swing as opposed to level swing in NPB. Those 3 elements all benefit Imanaga greatly.

Amazing pitcher, it was a good game and i wish the best for him for the rest of his career⚾️

The best free agent signing so far this season in terms of cost and effectiveness. His contract amount is roughly 1/6 of Yamamoto's and his average annual salary is slightly less than half, but he is performing far better than Yamamoto's.

My feeling is that by the end of the year Yamamoto will have better numbers, though I could very well be wrong. Also need to remember both are new to the league this year, so it's harder to predict their performance as the hitters are still getting used to them.

Imanaga is the best, even in the worst condition

Shota Imanaga might be the first Japanese pitch to win the Cy and MVP, he's winning the Cy for sure if his era is 1.80ish with 12+ wins by year end. The NL MVP might not be obtainable but he should be in the running.

Rookie of the year and Cy Young, and no doubt if continues this path could be the most valuable player if Ohtani allows it.

He was not on his A-game tonight but still came out of it unscathed.

Just imagine if the cubs had a decent bullpen…..

So, why nobody else picked him up with a higher contract? Cubs seemed to get an amazing bargain, and I wonder why this happened.

Imanaga was good, but the Braves had him on the ropes with 7 runners left on base. Counsel purposely went out to argue with the first base ump to get him a unofficial visit from his pitching coach. Wasted a bunch of time (for him to rest and reset) getting thrown out, then the ump gave him warm up pitches (coming into a 3-2 count with the bases loaded) when his own team wasted the game time. Probably saved his ERA, from getting tacked with a couple of runs. Either way, Braves won and Imanaga is the best Japanese pitcher in MLB, should get an All-Star spot.

As a Dodgers fan he deserves the 300 million contract more than Yamamoto

Imanaga is an older pitcher then Yamamoto. He's more of a seasoned vet than a young 26 year old. Yamamoto has really started to heat up, but I don't expect greatness till next year. Even Shohei needed some time to adjust when he was on the Angels.

It's way, way too soon to even discuss something like that. Besides, Shota is already 30 years old. No way anyone will give him even close to a 12 year contract. Got to wait at least 5-6 years before discussing whether Yamamoto is worth the contract.

Amazing because this guy was good, but not great in Japan. He comes over to the MLB and is setting the world on fire. Conversely, there have been great pitchers in Japan, who have come over and have been average or even struggled.

Not sure why ppl complaining about Shota's lack of run support. The Cubs were going against Reynaldo Lopez, the second best pitcher in baseball. This was a pitching duel.

Would be even lower than that if they didn't push him and send them out for the seventh thing in his last start, where he gave up two runs in that inning. Seems to be a solid 5 to 6 inning type of pitcher.
