My personal favorite moments throughout the piece: 28:02-31:44 41:49-43:51 53:55-55:32 As you might be able to tell, my favorite musical moments tend to be big climaxes. That’s not to say that I don’t like the calmer and quieter moments: (the English horn solo from 56:00-58:47 seems to make time stand still.)

Something about The Eleventh fascinates me. I don't yet know what it is; but I keep 'trying' different recordings.... this one strikes me as particularly well articulated. Whether it's the conducting, the recording, or the performance, I do not know. I only know that THIS is a very special piece of music, and THIS is one of the better recordings of it I have found here. THANK YOU, VERY MUCH.

I don't know what it is with the Concertgebouw's tam-tam but it always sounded kinda sluggish and underpowered to my ears. So not the ideal performance as far as I'm concerned. Although it's certainly better than Mravinsky. The best of the "classic" Russian performances is probably Kondrashin anyway. But I would suggest you listen to Caetani, Järvi or Lazarev.
