Shoshone Falls, Snake River, Twin Falls, Idaho

Shoshone Falls, the "Niagara of the West" at 212 feet tall and 900 foot wide, is higher than Niagara Falls. However its flow is often reduced by diversion of its water from the Snake River for land irrigation. Idaho Power Company has dams & power plants located at or near many of the waterfalls on the Snake River. Several of the waterfalls that flow down the cliffs into the Snake River Canyon are caused by drainage from irrigation canals. Shot 6/11/24
