It's actually the male of the species that hold the eggs to maturation until they hatch. The female produces the eggs and then gives them to the male to protect until they hatched.

I was fishing with my son one time when he was about 8 years old. I told him to check his bait, so he pulled it up, and sure enough, there was a seahorse with its tail wrapped around the line. You could tell that he was pregnant, full of babies. He gently unwrapped his tail and put him back to have his babie. That moment i knew if i had done anything right, it was how i was teaching him about the love of everything

No they don't, female gestates the eggs meaning she gives birth and place the eggs in the male pouch when they are ready to hatch they come out. Only female seahorses give birth 🙄🤡
