There are so many unemployed accounting graduates but they are not given opportunity to do their articles so they can write the professional exam. Why do companies require 5 years experience from new graduates, where are they supposed to get that from?

Students run away brother my exam was 8 hours each paper .To qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant you must complete the ACA, a highly-respected professional qualification that requires students to complete at least three years on-the-job training while passing a series of exams. You can start your training by completing ICAEW's Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB), which is made up of the first six modules of the ACA, before going on to complete the rest of the qualification.

Few schools offer accounting and very few learners take the subject in schools causing the shortage. It's one of the subject not popular in societies. Most people don't know it's importance in the economy hence don't encourage their children to do the subject. The subject itself is challenging.

I get the goal of increasing the supply of accountants, my question is, where will they go with the current unemployment rate and the increase of unemployed graduates. There is other thing of experience, firms demand five year experience from 27 year olds, when did they get it. In South Africa there is still a long way to go, and in that way we have to find a way of unclogging the system so that no one ends up being a qualified couch potato ....... And the issue of funding is real.... most bursaries only consider students studying towards being a CA as accounts... what about the rest?
