Awww....but there's certainly taxpayer loyalty regarding bailouts , right? Biden Admin. and the FDIC were quick to respond to this horse sht...they knew Peter Thiel and his MAGArats were up to something. The venture capital community basically created a run on SVB, which is why Peter Thiel needs to be investigated as he called out for a bank run on national TV.

I just watched a clip of a woman with a health care company who got a call from a big investor who told her to get her money out. Insider info. She got it all out except the FDIC-covered amount.

I am new to the stock market. Every stock that I bought so far, I was out of luck because I bought them when they were expensive. I feel I missed out on all the stock opportunities so far for the tech stocks.I believe having 175K yearly income would be a good investment so I want to plug all my savings into the stock market. I know this sounds a bit dull but I would like to know if I should learn investing or let somebody else (more capable like a FA) do it for me? Please share your thoughts. I am kind of tired of searching for a good stock to buy and losing all the good opportunities.

Weiss is very risk averse. Risk averse investors that understand banking and have experience would say what he said. He was unlikely to be acting on insider information.

This is exactly how a vibrant and sound economy works. 40 year old banks collapsing because they held bonds and MBS. The Fed is doing a heck of a job.

You are right. But these guys had plenty of time to raise capital through equity dilution. They saw those bonds losing value on their balance sheet and did nothing until it was too late. It's pathetic honestly.

if they go to zero you can write off the loss. Othewise for a stockholder, probably nothing makes you whole. They do sometimes recover assets and distribute them in various ways, but actual depositors will get those as fractions of what they had that wasn't insured.

It will start trading again at some point, but they will declare bankruptcy, so will probably trade for less than $1.00.

Not so sure this is fraud. AT THIS STAGE there is no evidence of intent to misrepresent a fact, or to deceive anyone. He may have a good case that his intent was/is to save someone's bacon - and they may thank him. That said, it is a risky move.

That is a good question, but she is an investment advisor not associated with SoFi banking operations. The same reason why you see Wells Fargo investment advisor Mike Mayo on CNBC covering the banking sector (but he doesn't comment on his own bank).

Those cashiers checks won't clear.

Remember, people incl CEO can say ANYTHING (lies or facts or opinions or hopes) on TV or social media until in front of a judge then they take the 5th.

Silicon Valley Bank is only in Silicon Valley (duh). It is a state charted regional bank.

Weiss has first hand experience with his career at Bear Sterns.

Datas is a decent asset.

Anyone want to explain why this is claiming to trade at $32ish, yet it's stock is halted at 106?? I'm not in this; no exposure. However, it seems someone is trading this or was able to trade this while everyone else was unable to. Seems...and I could be wrong...that the heavy hitters are still selling; the average citizen gets f'd again.

Nah it was at 270 two days ago. And wallstreet bets likes to jump in on these bankrupt companies and run them up before bankruptcy. I.e. hertz rental car. So the company can ask the exchange to halt the stock or they can decide on their own to halt it. They say in order for the market to digest the news and not overreact if u belive that bs.

$106 was the closing price on Thursday. Check the date on the price quote. Not sure why most websites are not reporting the price when trading was halted on Friday.

The bank lost a lot of money buying long and intermediate term Treasury bonds when interest rates shot up fast. How that happened I don't know, because most people were predicting that interest rates would go up pretty fast.
