SHORT FILM- BOYS DON'T CRY-

On average, 84 men take their own lives in the UK every week.
CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are open every day, 5pm-midnight: bit.ly/CALM_GetHelp
CALM relies on the hard work and dedication of their supporters to continue supporting men who may be going through a tough time. To donate to CALM, head here: www.thecalmzone.net/donate/
As a KZread ambassador, I wanted to create a short film that addresses toxic masculinity. i hope that this video can help someone out there that struggles to open up and realise that to feel sad or hurt doesn't make you less of a man! This project couldn't be done without KZread and the creators for change programme. For more information, visit kzread.infocreators-fo...

Ian Holmquist you need to talk to someone about losing your friend. You have so much rage inside and you basically said to suck it up and live life like you or suicide like your friend. That is the choices you presented. You are angry with your friend giving up and leaving you. Find a puching bag and let it out. There is a lot of grief and sadness under the anger. That is how to deal with it. Ignoring the issue is NOT dealing with it. It will ruin your life and you will continue being hard hearted to others while you hold onto the pain. You gotta pull the thorn out or the wound will never heal. 😉

Im 11, a girl and I hated crying. I always thought it made me feel weak. But now I cry. A lot. It helps me with everything. When I’m happy I cry, when I’m sad I cry, when I’m jealous I cry. Tears are not a weak point anymore, it’s a way of showing my emotions. Tears don’t have to be sad. Tears are strength. To remind you that after all your hardships, your a strong and real human. In the end, tears remind you that your not fake. Theres a strong human underneath all those layers. Edit: Why are people being mean? I honestly don’t remember writing this and I don’t think I should keep it up anymore. The replies are making me sad🤕

Girl, don’t worry bout me😇 I’m really doing fine nowadays. Although I’m 11, I’ve gone through a whole load of sh*t. Seriously, I’ve had suicide attempts. Never has been easy... please worry about your issues. Eleven and I’m more mature than most 20 year olds. I hope your life gets better for U. I never wrote this comment for ya’ll to feel bad for me. I wrote this to show that tears are never a weak point. I really hope that you do well in your exams. Even though I’m in year 7, they prepare us for exams. I’ve done SO many assessments and have loads of homework. Its so much pressure. Im sure you should know that in this age, other people r nosy in your scores. They like to see what u got. I love that you shared this with me and the others who read ur reply. Get through life, because trust me when I say that it is the hardest thing you will ever do. As sad as it is many people don’t. This hit me hard, as a girl, I was told it's shameful to cry, girls need to be strong even if it was tough, after countless years of anxiety, depression, self harm and suicidal thoughts, and 3 attempts of suicide, I was told that everything will be okay and it'll get better in time. It never did, it still isn't. but it's beautiful that people are acknowledging the fact that everyone struggles, and boys do cry, you should feel comfortable to open up to close family and friends about anything. Guys, I know most of you think that crying will make you seem less masculine, less of a man, sensitive and you want to avoid these at all costs, but if you keep these bottled up over and over again, it's not healthy for you and you will eventually burst, it may take the best of you and no, it doesn't make you less of a man or sensitive, it makes you strong because crying is not something you're used too and you may think that no-one will care about your problems believe me they do! Not everyone, it's sad, but true, everyone won't care about your emotions, but you only need one special person that will never give up on you and will forever love you whether your sad or happy! Honestly, I do hear with ppl, soon as they open up, their woman leaves them, but that isn't with every woman! You just need to find someone that will prove you wrong if you have doubts about women because I'm saying the truth and about myself aswell that not all women are like this!

Brother you couldn’t be more spot on with the realness of the pain. The dilemmas and decisions I’d endured after heart break was literally how you portrayed it. It really hit home with me so much so I even felt like sending this vid to my ex to show how she made me feel. But Alhamdulillah it’s all good now. I’ve done my crying, now I’m doing my smiling 😁 Keep inspiring yourself to inspire us all.

The abuse ppl gave him, families members disowning him, school “friends” bullying him even during adulthood, girlfriends using him, until he could not bottle it no longer and took his own life. Men do cry and it’s okay. It’s best to talk about your feelings rather then hide behind a fake mask. Salute to you Hamza for creating this powerful video.

This is the kind of creators for change stuff I can get behind. The garbage KZread puts out is not what anyone wants to see. But this stuff that strikes a chord with so many men who feel they have to hide their emotions to seem more manly. This video goes out to all the young men who in an age where people focus on taking down men and trying to change young men, they need to be shown it’s ok to be who you are.

Andres Perez , woman don’t cry the way you think they do, we aren’t emotional but yes men should have the chance to have emotional support, however I find woman and men the same because you can’t just assume that woman are weak, you don’t know every single girl out there and so therefore you can’t say that they all as a group are emotional, I’m not for example.

It is not therapeutic or beneficial to me. I come from working class Scotland and I've never had any man tell me it wasn't ok to cry, in fact quite the opposite. I do not appreciate people insisting I'm emotionally broken simply because I'm a man.

Very strong message! I met this beautiful woman! We were hitting the first few months off great! I was convinced that I was finally found love. Later in our relationship, she started ignoring my text and I found her making out with another. I thought, do I confront her with my emotions and possibly embarrass myself or do I move forward to the next girl (whenever that would be) and just “be a man” about it? I couldn’t tell my friends or family that I was emotionally confused and frustrated because I would sound like a sensitive little punk, so I just bottled it up and kept it to myself. I was driving on the freeway to work contemplating “if drove off the bridge, who would care? I’m not ‘man’ enough for this world anyway”. Until I received a call from my aunt saying my youngest cousin went missing. I tried calling him, maybe he just needed a someone to talk to. Later when I arrive home, I found out he committed suicide over a girl he just met in college. If only we had talked about our similar situations, if only I told him don’t just bottle it up until you crack...if only...we were ‘man enough’ to talk to each other about it...if...only...but boys don’t cry. Men, don’t be afraid of talking to someone you can trust because you just might save a life...or your own... EDIT: my family and I were very devastated, my aunt and uncle were very devastated, students in the college he went to were devastated, even the girl who broke his heart was devastated to hear the news. Before you start contemplating suicide, think about all the family, friends, coworkers, classmates, etc. around you who will be saddened to hear you took your life because along with it, you’re going to take a piece of there’s too. It hurts a lot! They do care about you. And if nobody else said it then I, a random comment on KZread will say it for you. “I care about you. You ARE worth it. You are true blessing. ”

Excellent video Humza, very deep and so true. Us men do hold a lot in and sometimes feel ashamed to open up and talk. But the sad reality we don't. We tend to think that's only us going through situations when many others are in a far worse condition. Men let's speak up and make a difference. Men are more likely to commit suicide than women. Find a family or close friend and talk. It won't hurt but heal you instead. 😉🙋🏾‍♂️
