Shore Fishing Morro Bay and Panko Eel Tenders. Morro Rock Surfing

Follow me as I try different shore fishing spots in Morro bay with the
excitement of catching Jack Smelt, a Bay Ray and More. Then I cook
up some Panko Eel Tenders and surf by Morro Rock.

    Hey Jim! I am enjoying watching all of your videos... I especially like seeing how much joy you get out of just being in this beautiful place we live... We are truly blessed. I share the same frustration you have with these dang barred surf perch... I remember catching them from shore as a kid with a freshwater pole and a motor oil curly-tail grub... Now I have waders, a great surf rod and reel and about $300 invested in tackle, and I can't honestly say it has made the task any easier. Well, except now that I am older, the waders are a real plus! Please keep making your videos.. I see from the post below you were amazed to have 400 subscriptions. As I type this, I see you now have over 1500 subs, including me!! 🙂

    I'm only a week or so from posting my next video. I work so it takes a while. I caught two Black and Yellow's and a keeper Cab, while explaining my pocket fishing methods. I know it's not a lot compare to others but I'm amazed I have over 400 subs. I love the fishing, hiking and surfing so I'll keep making Videos. Thanks, again for subscribing.

    I think the next video will be pocket fishing a low tide just north of Cayucos. Get out my snare for some rock crab also. Might try chumming the holes before dropping a line down. But, I better check the regs before doing that. Looking forward to it. Nice up there.

    For surfperch use size 2 to size 6 bait holder j hooks. I would use small size hook with gulp sandworm. For srhimp or squid size 2 or even 1 j hooks. Hope this help.

    You can catch some perch from shore around Cayucos pier. I have caught the majority of mine on the north side. Both Barred and Calico Surf Perch. Another spot I have had success at is the dog beach just north of Toro Creek. Others have done well on the south side down by the rocks. If you are interested, I will be up there over Labor Day week and would love to meet up to fish the surf.

    I have a trip planned over there around the end of August to do some south jetty fishing also we did ok last time we went in mid-June. We have been struggling with perch in that area for the last few months also, we fished Morro Strand and Montana De Oro in early spring and didn’t catch any perch.

    I keep hoping to catch perch off the south jetty about 100 yards form the beach, but all I've caught is Jack smelt. I think I'm going to try near cayucos. Just past the pier either from the beach or down the coast about a mile from it.

    Can you give me advice on the tide levels in the morro bay area. Im looking to harvest urchin and mussels. Peehaps some seaweed too. Is 1.5 ft a good low tide to expose the tide pools?

  • @morrobayfishing5515

    @morrobayfishing5515

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I think you can forage at a 1.5 ft low tide, but it's going to limit the time things are exposed so you need to be there an hour or before.
