Hi Mark, I just wanted to give a quick update. I just finished my sandpiper carving yesterday and I am very pleased with the results. Especially since it was my first without assistance (supervision), and the first I’ve painted. Deciding how to paint it and actually doing it was probably more challenging than the carving. Was gonna attach a picture, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

I just used a 2 x 6 from Home Depot. Nothing fancy. Just trying to show you can use scrap lumber to do art. Thank you for your comment I appreciate it.
