You look fabulous in that chatelaine! The lovely, little tablet on it is called an aide memoir, serving the purpose to remind one's self with a little note or name, on pages composed of bone or celluloid. I think that the tool that looks a bit like an eraser is probably a garment marker. The pointed piece is a stitching awl or hole punch, (doubling in my opinion, as a handy toothpick.) The flat beater shaped tool is a threader and the disc that has come apart, as you stated, is likely a pin cushion. The pins would be stuck in around it's outer perimeter, pointing toward the center. The implement with the hook is indeed a button hook. I believe that if you grasp the handle and gingerly try to swivel the hook either forward or back away from the tear drop shape handle, you will see it take shape. It appears to be folded into itself to be compact. Years ago, I was lucky enough to come across a Victorian, German chatelaine in low silver at an estate sale. The waist plate depicted a grotesque gargoyle with eight suspended chains attached to as many amazing accessories. The original owner had even drilled holes through old silver coins, put rings through them and added them in intervals down the chains. It was easily the coolest piece I have ever seen or owned and I will regret parting with it for the rest of my days, dang it. I just love your auction videos. Such wonderful things.

Woah thanks for the nice note and all of that info! I don’t sew so those items are unfamiliar to me. I didn’t even realize at first those were folding ✂️ scissors! The chatelaine with the gargoyle sounds amazing… That’s one good thing about my videos, I can look back and still enjoy items I’ve sold! The videos are “almost” as good as having the pieces. Sorry you regret selling it. I understand. Much appreciation! Sandra xoxo

Hi Sandra! I have sold a brooch similar to the one you are holding at 19:24. I researched it in order to sell it, and found out that these are based on medieval Viking brooches. They are called 'Urnes brooches' and depict fantastical animals fighting snakes.

The stone thing is wax. You would run thread along the wax to strengthen and stiffen the thread. Makes the thread easier to put on the needle for sewing as well as making it easier to hand sew with the thread. My mom was a sewer.

I love it as a necklace too. I am a bit concerned that something might fall off tho! When I wore it, that round thing had both pieces and the next day I found half of it in the driveway. I will make sure everything is secured next time. Thanks and thanks for watching!

The second appendage on the chatelaine is a glove button hook. The pencil eraser thing is beeswax for waxing thread. The thing for writing is calledan aide memoir, and the leaves are either made out of ivory or celluloid. I think the thing that looks like a button hook is a button hook and it folds open. The chalky thing could be for making chalk marks, or it could be an ancient decayed pincushion. Hope this helps!

At 18:52, that was a Roman Catholic “relic” of St Teresa. It is said to contain a tiny skeleton fragment from the saint’s body. The back cover pulls off and shows a tiny paper with the Holy Vatican seal stamped on it.

My guess is that the unknown chalky item on the chatelaine is a vinegrette - the scent or sponge has deteriorated so it has become chalky. The "pad" is definitely an ivory dance card holder or note pad. Yes, they wrote on ivory. Thx for taking me to the auction with you.

You may be right about that. I was wondering that too because of the cut out work on each side. Might be chalk tho. I’ll have to take a closer look. Interesting to write on ivory… who knew? 😝 thanks so much!!! Hugs

🌟Hi Sandra and Helloo to your 🌸Mother, What a great picture of you wearing the chantelaine necklace, so cool❣️ I thought your voice sounded a bit raspy, I also noticed that you didn't have your ring on, the ring that you always seem to wear, on your index finger, I think to myself " That must be Sandra's Lucky ring"🍀 Grreat pools of light necklace 🤍 too bad about the condition. The Crucifix is Awesome, beautiful. I have a thing for all different kinds of crosses✝️ What a nice HUGE ringg 🤎 I remember wearing copper earrings and cuffs, years ago, I still have a few pieces. Sandra, my older sister and I took accordion lessons together, Mr. May would come to our house once a week, to be totally honest, I would have loved to be been taking karate lessons instead💯%, but my Mother just would not let me 😪. That's 1 cool weirdling pendant, Lol🧡Lol. Such a pretty dantiy & slender, 👍 bow pendant 🎀 Thank you so much, Sandra, you're such a pleasure and I always enjoy you taking us along with you, we get to check out all of the treasures with you ✌️🧡 Great lots, Sandra 🥰 Today is such a Beautiful day, 🌞 💓Well, You and your Family have a Fantastic week ahead 🌹💜🌸🐞 Thank you again, Sandra 😎

Thanks for the nice message! I don’t always wear rings, it depends. The only piece of jewelry that I’m a bit superstitious about (not sure that’s the exact term in this case) is my silver wolf head ring. I like to wear it in difficult times to remember that I’m a fighter! Glad you watched, glad you enjoyed. Hope all is well in your world. Big hugs!!!! Sandra

About chatelaine - that tiny notebook was also called aide memoir (bone was used for pages, but also celluloid - however, those w fewer pages, like this one, probably bone). The pointy thing might be a hole punch.
