It was always great to see Karl at the WoO races. If he came in a restaurant where there were race fans (usually wearing Sprint Car T-Shirts), he always greeted them like they were old friends - as if he knew they'd know who he was - and they did! He also had pictures that he would autograph, out in the pits, that he'd pass out to race fans, like the drivers do. A national treasure, great man. That was a wonderful interview. Thanks!

Don, for me coming from the sprint car world, I always marveled over Steve and Karl, arguably the best owner driver combination that will ever be in the history of sprint car racing. In 1986 I believe at the Gold Cup in Chico California,(which he won 12 times) he had quick time, he got upside down in the heat race, tore it up, the frame was bent, Karl and Elrod went to work putting in a front axle, radius rods and a rear axle and Steve went out and won the main event. After the race talking to Steve, he was wore out, he said he couldn’t have lasted much longer, the frame was so bent that he could hardly steer it, that coming from the iron man of sprint cars. We were all staying at the Holiday Inn, the next morning Karl and Elrod pulled a new bare chassis off the top of the trailer, I mean bare, Karl preceded to cut every bracket off the old car and weld them on the new chassis, this was on Friday and they didn’t have to race until Saturday, before it was dark, it was done. Saturday comes around and Steve goes out and wins again. Karl was always a modest person, didn’t say a lot, but when he did, you should probably be listening.

This was an absolutely fantastic interview! I knew all those guys 20 years ago back when I chased the series. Good to hear he’s still kicking.

Hello, I remember my dad he was my step father but I love him so Howard Hall he raced in Winchester Indiana where he had a fiery crash in the pits 1963. He also raced him many other tracks in different states. He knew all those racers My stepfather was very very well known. And so was my mother. I still have a lot of those pictures of all the race drivers that he raced with and also One of his trophies which the other trophies that he won so many had rotted away where my mother put them in the shed. I also have the Anderson newspaper herald where explained and showed the accident in Winchester Indiana. The video I'm watching brings back a lot of memories of my stepfather wonderful father that he was and the people that he knew and raised with, I've heard so many stories growing up from my mother. My stepfather Howard Hall raced the red number 2 Sprint. I remember sitting in the car while he and a couple other guys were working on it when I was little sitting in the car. I believe kinser knew my father Howard Hall also in your video I saw the number 2 that was my dad's car Well I just wanted to say great video great memories. Thank you and God bless

I love to listen to someone who has their own opinion and not listen to someone else and repeat their thoughts. Just like you said and not afraid to say it. If Karl Kinser wasn't in racing his seat should've been in Washington. Eighty three years of stories would be worth listening to.

The sparkle in his eyes and smile on his face is good to see. He looks younger now than he did in the 1980's. I have to admit, I only saw him during working hours, at the track.

Wow! I love Karl's Politics because he is exactly right! We all are watching this great nation be hijacked by a small minority of what I would term 'Progressive Fascist Elites'. Very fascinating interview with a Sprint Car Legend. Carl is just as sprite as he ever was.

Another great visit with The Man! We should all be as fortunate as Karl with great longevity and high spirits. I've often referred to him as a Folk hero and think it fits nicely.
