Thanks for the winter tips fellas. It’s my first time fishing in true winter conditions and so I’m learning as I go.

Great video guys! I agree, don't be afraid of winter fly fishing, just prepare and find a system that works for you. My personal winter system includes over-insulating my head, neck and torso to keep my feet and hands warmer. I carry an electric or fueled hand warmer for when the fingers get nippy because I don't like to fish with gloves. My winter boots are over-sized a full size to accommodate the extra thick or layered socks you might wear without squeezing the blood flow out of your feet with tight boots. Keep a hand towel readily available to dry your hands if they get wet. Leaky waders are a no-no and boot-foot waders are actually great for winter because they are easier to get in and out of and keep your feet generally warmer. For the more adventurous winter anglers, try x-country skis or snowshoes to get into less fished in winter areas if the snow is over a foot deep. If you are away from your car heater a ways, carry emergency supplies in a day-pack, like a dry change of cloths, emergency fire making supplies, rain jacket, mittens, TP, food, drink (a Thermos of hot beverage is great) and your cell phone. Sorry for the long post!

I bought a 7.5 foot, 3wt setup for winter dry fishing, but honestly I've been able to have just as much success with my 9 foot 5 throwing a 5x 12 foot leader. If that doesnt work I tend to tie on a couple feet of 6-7x. A size 20ish NO-SEE-EM works like a charm. but Other than that, its much more fun to just fish nymphs and sow/scuds/eggs/leeches on an indicator. I haven't been able to euro at all because I cant get close enough to the fish. They just flee before I get within presentation range.

Would ya'll considering doing a podcast where you talk about how you started fishing and progressed as anglers? from the time you cast like most of us (hooking the back of our heads) to great anglers?

So winter is cold now? NRS neoprene fishing gloves - they are the best for below freezing - for feet: Oros electric socks with re-chargeable lithium batteries (Coolmax) over NRS 2.5 ml neoprene socks - wide boots like Korkers 2 sizes above your normal

Lance, where do you buy your polypropylene sock liners? I use to have a few pair but they were trashed years ago. I haven’t been able to find them anywhere.

When you switch to throw dry flies w/ a 3wt euro rod. Are you using 3wt floating line or what at floating line do you recommend?

Just finished episode 13 of the podcast. Lance said there wasn't much interest in joining the team but there is very little on the web about the team. Their website isn't very informative. I've been wanting to go and watch some local competitions but no one sees to know when and where they are. Get more info out.
