100% agree, just found 2 pairs perfect fades 501’s paid $22 total at my local Value Village. I have many pairs of Levi’s jeans, shirts and jackets all thrifted.

I feel that way about American Eagle jeans, I have no hips, and their straight jeans fit me perfectly. Levis have tiny waist and big hips and leg. I do have one old pair I turned into shorts. But when you find that brand that never fails, you will never let go.

Back in the 80s I wore shrink to fit student 701s size w24xl36 that genuinely shrunk 10% that made them about 21 1/2 X 32 1/ 2 my waist is 20" so I have a hard time finding jeans that fit, I have several pairs of Levi's in a 23" waist which are all too big and don't come any smaller. Have you by chance come across any 701s that size 24x36 from the early 80s ?
