    @@WillemVerb One more tip, if you find the double exposure protection doesn't let you take any more shots after the first frame, it's due to the back and body getting out of sync when you put the back on. Taking a "double exposure" with the cap on should get it back in sync without any further issues.

    On another note - it's not possible to double expose the film if you flip the switch to cover the red dot on the film back. I've shot photos on the RB since the start of the year, and the thing that's been bothering me is the light leak exactly like yours @ 3:37 which happens every now and then. I can't seem to identify what might cause that. Do you have any idea (and does this also happen with the RZ) ?

    There's a little lever next to the film advance that you can toggle to prevent multiple exposures! There's a bit of red beneath it to indicate whether it's safe for double exposure or not.

  • @Regsfoto
    @Regsfoto3 жыл бұрын

    Great video Willem, as always!. The solution to your double exposure problem, if you haven't figured it out by now, is to move the switch under the film advance lever down so it covers the red dot. This engages a coupling pin that will keep the film from being exposed multiple times. This feature is found on Pro S and Pro SD backs BUT NOT the first generation "Pro" backs. So if you decide to buy any additional backs just keep that in mind. Also, unlike the RZ there is no switch to engage back rotation (no R-M switch), just turn it clockwise for vertical and counterclockwise to go back to horizontal. Keep up the great work!

    Hey Willem, you do know back in the day, the RB was a studio camera...usually on a camera stand, many times on wheels. It wasn't meant for hauling around town. It was used in portrait studios. That said, back in the day, I would take my boat anchor out for a walk to the beach, loved shooting the piers, the rock jetty, sailboats and the surfers with it. I would take a half way decent tripod with me sometimes....one that I didn't care if it was messed up by the sand grains or the salt sea air. These days, I buy my tripods cheap at estate sales, and I still haul my boat anchor to the beach...some things never change! Surfs Up !

    Two of mine had 100 exposure 70mm motor-driven backs and the 100-200mm f5.3 zoom lenses! They were mounted on a 280 pound rolling Linhof camera stand with Miller fluid-heads. The stand also had two Elinchrom EL 500 strobes inside a DYI softbox on a DIY retractable boom. Any studio worth their weight in dirt had them as a standard. Never ever looked at a Blad. I wanted that almighty extra 1/4 inch! On location it was the Pentax 67 with the 90mm LS and the 165 LS. Them were the days!

I took the studio to clients instead. Walk-in studios were a dead issue. I had a second truck that hauled a 20X40 foot tent and props. I was able make the tent all black, white or anything between. Walk-in studios are still dead here along the Arizona/Mexighanistan border. All ranch clientele on both sides of the line. Their barns and stables are the new studio, LOL! When done I'd park the trucks at the job office where no one ever got close to them. Retired from a Government job after 34 years. Today I shoot for myself only. I'm 65, too old for that shit. When you do want to take one, just uncover the red dot again and itll work! Also to shoot in portrait orientation, just turn the back to the right, then back left again for landscape :) Love the videos keep up the great work.

    To quickly change film, I carry three extra loaded film backs. Since some of my film backs do not have the double-exposure switch, I have gotten into the habit of winding the film before I reset the mirror.

    Found a RB67 with two backs and the 127&180 during a garage cleaning in the neighborhood. Got it for free lol. I love the camera

    I was wondering how the rotation works differently with the RZ. Is there an extra button or switch or something? Because with the RB you just grab and rotate, right?

    @@frederikklarname149 in the RB its just simply grab and rotate, but in the RZ there is a small switch on the right side of the camera just above the lever that says M (for multiple exposures) and R (for rotating the back), when set to R, u then can rotate the back and the switch always resets when u press the shutter button.

    I used an RB for many years as a studio photographer. The film advance and cocking the shutter become automatic. I changed for a while to a Pentax 6x7. It was fun to use, but the RB was a better choice for me.
