Here's a ballistics example of an archer shooting uphill. I show a simple process for solving the problem. Motion in the X and Y directions (horizontal and vertical) are addressed separately. The result is two equations with time and launch angle as the variables. I show you how to solve for the launch angle.

    I think the better term to use is 'Imperial' rather than 'English' units. We use the metric system over here in most engineering fields with the exception of Aeronautical engineering, where we use imperial units of measurement (since this is what the ICAO is based on)
