Shooting the Hammer Slingshot Slingbow from Simpleshot

Спорт

These were the first shots I took with The Hammer Slingshot/Slingbow from Simpleshot in both slingshot mode and in slingbow mode. This is just a "first shots" video and not a review. I will be doing an in-depth review in the near future... but I want some more time with it so I can accurately describe what it's like to use it in a lot of circumstances including carrying it in my pack, target practice, and hunting in both slingshot and slingbow modes with different ammo/band combinations for slingshot and arrow/arrow-head combinations for the slingbow. So, I hope you enjoy this and I hope you will watch the full review when I have that done and post it.

    Now I have to go buy one thanks a lot for making me spend more money. I have been seeing the sling shots in pictures and magazines but haven't watched one in action until your video. Looks deadly and I have to have one . Be blessed and enjoyed your video.

    3/8 steel ammo is widely used among most shooters and us the most commonly used size in competition. Buying bulk from Amazon is the best way to go in my opinion. Got a 500ct bag of 3/8 steel for around $18. I've used daisy white glass 1/2 ammo that you can find at retail stores like Walmart. They are easy to spot and retrieve but do break after a few shots usually. And they are pretty lightweight so its tricky to shoot ling range. Best to stick with steel so you get the most bang for your buck. I also occasionally shoot 1/4 steel to practice a clean release. It only costs about $5 for 250ct box at a retail store. Cant help you with arrow recommendations. Hope that helps a bit

    can you use flat bands with it?

  • @betweenfiveandseven

    @betweenfiveandseven

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes. In slingshot mode, I had some flats on it for this video. In slingbow mode, there's more to the story. The first slingbow bands that simpleshot was making when this came out were some flats. The rubber manufacturer discontinued the thickness/size they were using for those band sets, so they had to go back to the drawing board on their slingbow band design and settled on a couple of sizes of tube in a looped tube configuration. I'm going to cover this some when I review this, but the simpleshot made band sets for this have a nice nock serving built in out of b50 bow string and it works slick. There's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from using a different band set or making their own out of flats or different tubes or whatever they prefer. It's just a lot more convenient to use the tubes that come with it for slingbow mode and buy ready-made sets from simpleshot than it is to source other sets or make your own. But it will absolutely accept flats if that's what you prefer. I hope that helps!

    I live in an area that doesn't like wristbraced slingshots. Not illegal, but the police will move you along. I spend time in NY, where they're illegal. I own a Hammer. what's your opinion with and without the brace.?

  • @betweenfiveandseven

    @betweenfiveandseven

    7 жыл бұрын

    This is hard to find the right words for, but since you already own one, maybe this will make sense to you: The grip (handle) is a little bit thick to operate without the brace. If I had to use this without the brace, I would wish the handle was just a little bit thinner for a tighter fist around it. ... Also, I think if I had to use this without the brace, I would very likely shoot over the top instead of through the forks and the frame in a more upright position.

    Looks pretty deadly! You could easily take down small game, or a deer with that slingshot. It would be interesting to see if you could also take fish with it too, by rigging up a line to the arrow.

    He sells a bow fishing rig for this and it has a rail on the bottom that a bow fishing rig can mount to. .. I was out varmint hunting with this in slingbow mode today. I may or may not include some of the photos from today in the video when I review this, but this is no doubt an effective tool for hunting (there's one less badger living on the farm as of today, anyway). A 50' shot with a 400 grain trocar headed carbon arrow almost punched completely through a full grown adult female badger more or less broadside. the arrow stopped about 3 inches from the fletching and it might have been the ground that stopped it. Slingbow isn't a legal "method of take" for game in MT, but that badger shot tells me that this can launch an arrow with a bladed broadhead powerfully enough to get through white tail deer ribs and plenty deep enough to reach vitals.

    I bet they taste like a mixture of brimstone and trinidad scorpion peppers. I bet they taste exactly like hate. There is no critter more vicious, nasty, and mean spirited than a badger. My longest rifle shot on a badger was ~375 yards. I considered it to be a self defense shooting ;)

    First section with the slingshot: 135 yards of nothing and then a steel building (no windows - just steel). And, no one was over there. There almost never is after 5 O'clock except occasionally on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Those are storage units and this isn't a densely populated area. The fisheye of the action cam I used might make it look like the steel building is closer than it is... but it's still a steel building I'm not capable of damaging with 3/8 steel and single layer latex at 135 yards.
