Doug was just kidding about shooting snakes with the BFR 44 mag, Magnum Research makes a .410 shotshell BFR for that.

I would love one in a short barrel. Those seem to be custom only lately though. 4-5 ".

About $900 for this vs about $600 for Ruger.

you get much more than $300 more gun with a bfr over a ruger. they are some of the best built handguns you can get.

Can this gun handle the 330 grain, Hammerhead .44 magnum +P's from Garrett Cartridges? Many regard the BFR as one of the strongest revolvers in the world; but Garrett doesn't list it as one of the revolvers capable of being able to handle their Hammerheads. The owner of the company warned me against trying it; saying to stick with Ruger revolvers, to be safe. Surely, this gun should be as strong as the Dan Wesson's and Taurus Raging Bulls? Could it be because the BFR cylinder is too short to accept their ammo? I want a BFR .44 magnum; but only if I can shoot the most powerful .44 magnum loads.

Hi Trae, the BFR can easily handle the loads you mentioned. The BFR with JT or BR in the prefix of the serial number is safe will all factory ammo. We haven't tested Garrets .44 mag but we have tested your 45/70 540 grain ammo and it handles it no problem. The only difference between the two is the frame size. The BFR is definitely stronger than all the other revolvers you mentioned.

Kahr Firearms Group, THANK YOU, for responding! I really love the .44 magnum round. I also love the looks of the BFR; but to get the full spectrum of capabilities from my revolver, Garrett Hammerheads are a must have. I can't lie; given my conversation with the owner of Garrett Cartridges, I'm a little scared to temp fate, despite your assurances. I'm going to contact him again, and pass along what you told me.
